This is the story of “Perfect Human”
James (Drew Van Acker) takes over his recently deceased father’s business. In addition to a lot of money, the legacy also includes a lavish mansion outside the city, where he moves in with his wife Sophie (Addison Timlin). Finding their constant presence uncomfortable, the young woman, accustomed to a simple life, spontaneously fires all the employees there.
However, the pair soon realize that they are hopelessly overwhelmed by the vast estate alone. The two therefore bring over the lifelike-looking android Henry (Steven Strait) from dealer Julian (James D’Arcy), who immediately does all the work that needs to be done to his full satisfaction. In other respects too, he is always ready to do whatever his owners wish.
However, Sophie, who sits at home all day, is now terribly bored. She begins to read Henry from her favorite books and is happy that he finally has someone to discuss literature with, a subject James seems to have no interest in.
Meanwhile, through conversations with Sophie, Henry begins to develop his own feelings, thoughts, and goals. He wants to portray a person who is as perfect as possible. Sophie is touched by the robot’s ambitions, which are now becoming more and more physically attractive to her. Life at home gets even more complicated when it turns out she’s not alone with her emotions…
With The Expanse, Pretty Little Liars and Dunkirk
Are you experienced sci-fi fans who have already seen one or the other dystopian episode of series like “Black Mirror” or the somewhat older “The Outer Limits” and “The Twilight Zone”? Then at the latest after the first quarter of “Perfect Human” you should have an idea in which direction the story will develop.
At first, it actually looks like what most viewers probably suspected. However, we can advise you at this point, spoiler-free, to still stay tuned. Because in the last part of the plot there is an original twist that may not appeal to everyone, but probably few expected.
Perfect Human is the feature film debut of director-writer Josh Janowicz. It stars Addison Timlin from Odd Thomas and the series California, Drew Van Acker (Pretty Little Liars) and Steven Strait from The Expanse. James D’Arcy from blockbusters like “Master & Commander” and “Dunkirk” also stars as the rather sleazy android salesman.
