Numerous critics and viewers agree: The recently launched “The Last Of Us” series is by far the most successful video game adaptation to date (we’re also inspired by the post-apocalyptic odyssey of the improbable duo Joel and Ellie very satisfied). “Postal”: One of the greatest movies of all time?!
For Uwe Boll, his 2007 ‘Postal’ film adaptation is clearly the best video game adaptation ever – and he believes it always will be. The director left that to him where he linked to one of the many articles calling The Last Of Us the best video game adaptation of all time – only to contradict it.
In a post he’s since deleted (who like resourceful websites but captured via screenshot) Boll went even further: “Postal” is one of the greatest movies ever made, not least because it supposedly has everything today’s movies don’t have anymore.
He probably means mostly the supposed political incorrectness of his action comedy, trying to capture the anarchic spirit of the shooter template, pushing the boundaries of good taste – which could have been quite interesting if it worked out.
That’s why “Postal” failed so badly
To some extent, we can certainly understand Boll’s critique of modern cinema (albeit rather inappropriate with “The Last Of Us”). Here’s the problem: “Postal” is anything but shocking. In Boll’s hands, none of the scenes that could be offensive on paper manage to be disturbing in any way.
No one then stormed out of “Postal” in a rage — and that’s the film’s biggest weakness. Then instead of angry boos, the uninspired string of alleged stickiness only creates gaping boredomwhich is why the film was penalized with the lowest rating of 0.5 stars in our review.

There are worlds between “Postal” and “The Last Of Us”. – and not in the way Uwe Boll probably sees it. Because even if Boll deliberately exaggerated his statement to provoke again, it should really reflect his point of view at its core.
