It’s been over a decade since Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2, the final chapter in the Potter story, hit theaters. Of course, Hogwarts hasn’t disappeared since, one was created by JK Rowling’s play. and kept alive in the Fantastic Beasts franchise. However, none of these projects matched the popularity of the original series.
Many have grown up watching the Harry Potter films and it is always an intimate experience for them to return to their favorite parts of the series. But not only many viewers grew up with the films, but also the actors themselves Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson started filming “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone” as children and were released for the last time ten years later of Hogwarts as adults.
During this time, Hogwarts was a central aspect of her life, which continues to have an identity-forming effect. Grint and Watson indicated that they could envision returning to the world of Harry Potter for future projects. Meanwhile, Daniel Radcliffe, who played the lead himself, is closed for the time being and has shown no interest in waving his wand like an elderly Harry again.
Playing Dudley was a different experience!
Actor Harry Melling has his own world of experience to show for himself. As Dursley Dursley, he was mainly based in the real world and had only a few points of contact with the magical world of Hogwarts. This not only affected the character he portrayed, but also himself, as he said in an interview withexplained: “My experience was unique because I wasn’t there for the entire shoot. The Earth sequences were more of an isolated shooting block. So I dove in and then went back to school and normal life.
Even as an actor, Melling never hit Hogwarts like other actors. Not only did he film isolated scenes, his screen time as a supporting actor was also considerably limited. In the interview, he shares that he never felt recognized for his role in public – which he doesn’t regret! However, the most central difference from the roles of his colleagues can be seen directly in the films: Melling played a bully.
As Dursley Dursley, he played Harry’s sadistic cousin, which fans – like the Dursley in general – nevertheless grew fond of. On the one hand, this may be due to nostalgic feelings, because the Potter adventures began in the Dursleys’ home. On the other hand, the funny quirks of the family, as well as its exaggerated portrayal. With all our love, we understand that it wasn’t always easy to get into the role of Dursley Dursley.
