137 kilos. The scales of news reporter Luisa Ita (27) showed this three and a half years ago. In the new Blick TV format “Luisa’s lighter life”, Ita talks about weight loss. The reporter has lost 64 kilos in recent years – in her own words, almost without giving up. Only later did she realize how heavy it was. “When I look at photos from the past, most of the time I don’t recognize myself anymore.” Luisa Ita is proud of her achievement. And she emphasizes that she never felt bad when she was fatter. “I always thought I was fine as I was.”
Fast diet as a starting point
He was a fat kid. As a teenager, she was aware of her slightly overweight. It didn’t bother him. “I didn’t want to give up my sweetie.” Luisa Ita, 23, weighed 137 kilograms. She never felt pressured to lose weight. “I had a wonderful circle of people who were very accepting of me.”
In the spring of 2019, Ita’s colleagues decided to introduce an accelerated diet based on the Clean 9 principle. This diet includes drinking one protein shake and two aloe vera juices a day, along with water and nutritional supplements. Ita joined. But she lost interest on the first day of writing on her blog. The juice was disgusting, Ita could hardly swallow the vitamin pill.
Calorie tracking as a solution
She did not want to give up and began to look for alternatives on the Internet. Ita is a calorie tracking app called “Lose it!” downloaded the app. The reporter began secretly tracking his calories. Only her husband knew this. The 27-year-old player did not want to experience the disgrace of another defeat. When the first successes became visible, Ita told her friends about her weight loss plans. Interest in her success in losing weight was great, so she opened a blog on Instagram. More than 100,000 people currently follow him there.
The reporter tracks everything he eats and drinks. On the way, for example, he tends to go to the gas station to buy something to eat. “I have a better overview of calories out there.” Ita admits the slightly worse taste of gas station sandwiches for weight loss.
However, the 27-year-old usually cooks his food in advance. It’s called “meal prep,” it started with about 2,000 calories a day and is now getting 1,600 calories a day. In addition, Ita guarantees to consume about two grams of protein per kilogram of body weight per day. Carbs or fats are also allowed, it’s important not to exceed the calorie budget.
Balance is still important to her – so Ita rewards herself with one getaway meal per week, one that’s over her calorie budget.
He also stopped snacking by tracking calories. A key ingredient in weight loss for Ita: “Many small bites add up quickly and can reduce weight loss success.” Ita thinks the “calorie counting” method only works if you’re sensitive. “That’s why I recommend weighing the food with scales.”
Sport is also a part of Luisa Ita’s new life. In the past, sports were not a favorite activity of reporters. “I was pretty lazy.” It took a lot of effort in the beginning. But the feeling after a workout is a good compensation.
Weight loss makes it easier for Ita to do daily chores. For example, crossing legs was not possible in the past. Another point that makes Ita happy is “When I travel by plane, I don’t have to worry about the belt being short anymore.”
Ita hasn’t reached her goal yet, she still has a few pounds to gain. “I’m not stressing myself out.”
