A while ago we were able to announce that “Project Wolf Hunting” will hit the cinemas in seven German cities at the Fantasy Filmfest at the end of January and the beginning of February 2023. If you can’t go to the festival because you don’t have time that weekend or you live too far away, we have good news for you. Because there will also be a regular cinema release!
capelight pictures announced that “Project Wolf Hunting” will hit theaters on March 2, 2023 – but beware: this film really packs a punch and is rightly called the hardest and most brutal film of the year!
This is Project Wolf Hunting
In “Project Wolf Hunting”, serious criminals must be taken from the Philippines to South Korea on a cargo ship. And you can probably imagine: despite a lot of security personnel, the prisoners manage to free themselves and begin to fight their way through the guards and ship’s personnel. But this is more than a brutal ship’s variant of “Con Air”. Because a secret charge still lurks below decks – and when it awakens, the murder escalates for good…
You don’t need to know much more about the contents of “Project Wolf Hunting”, but it’s worth getting informed about one aspect of the staging. The South Korean action horror thriller has a good reputation. Director Hong-seon Kim has really made it his mission to make every murder as brutal and especially bloody as possible. The red liquid flows out of the abused bodies by the liter. The fact that the respective killers also consciously kill sadistically makes the events even more intense. And then there is also the already mentioned effective staging by Kim, which further enhances the mess that can be seen on the soundtrack.
Harder than “The Sadness”
Lately, movies about their brutality have been hyped over and over again. Before Project Wolf Hunting, The Sadness, currently available as a subscription on Amazon Prime Video, was hot shit. While there the focus on brutality likes to emphasize how many interesting ideas are left in it and how violence never degenerates into a pure end in itself, “Project Wolf Hunting” is different. It really seems to be about constantly surpassing yourself – and that includes the story structure, which we don’t want to reveal here.
» “The Sorrow” on Amazon Prime Video*
The conclusion of our FILMSTARTS review of “Project Wolf Hunting” reads as follows: “The artificial blood flows freely, while the great sound design – especially when the wounds slam and the bones burst – does the rest. Those who like action cinema with selfish violence can enjoy themselves for two hours with the technically convincing, if somewhat overloaded, “Project Wolf Hunting”.
