These foods should no longer be eaten without being refrigerated.

You forgot yesterday’s rice on the table and only put the milk back in the refrigerator after a few hours – can you still eat this dish? Some foods tolerate room temperature well, but others are at high risk of bacteria after an overnight stay in the refrigerator. Accordingly, you should avoid eating certain foods after you have taken them out of the refrigerator for a certain period of time.

milk and yogurt

Yogurt and any fresh milk belong in the refrigerator, especially if opened. This also applies to UTH dairy products: Once opened, they should be stored in the refrigerator.

But sometimes you forget your food in the kitchen or you forget the open-mouthed yogurt on the table. In such a situation, you should trust your senses. Smell and taste test dairy products. Basically, if the milk or yogurt has been left at room temperature overnight, you should keep your hands away from them.

mayonnaise

Unopened mayonnaise does not need to be refrigerated. It belongs in the refrigerator after opening. However, industrially produced mayonnaise can last for several hours at room temperature, even when opened. When in doubt, it’s best to smell it. Homemade mayonnaise should never be stored without cooling. As it contains no preservatives, it is no longer edible after a short time.

When preparing pasta, you often find that you are cooking too much. Cooked pasta can be stored in the refrigerator for three to four days. At room temperature, things look a little different. Pasta with sauce is particularly susceptible to bacteria if not refrigerated. Pasta should not be taken out of the refrigerator for more than 12 hours. During this time, heat the noodles for two minutes at a minimum of 70 degrees Celsius.

Rice is also usually left over from cooking. It’s best to store leftovers in the refrigerator rather than pots on the stove. Chilled rice can be eaten for a maximum of two days after cooking. However, if you leave the formula at room temperature, you should eat it within 12 hours. Bacteria spread rapidly in uncooled rice. Therefore, smell the food and warm it thoroughly before consuming it.

meat, fish and seafood

Meat, fish and seafood dishes are particularly susceptible to bacteria. Fish and seafood should be refrigerated no later than one hour after preparation. Meat can be stored at room temperature for a maximum of one hour longer. After that, consumption can become critical.
