What is the best order for “Kaleidoscope”? Netflix offers 7 (!) possible chronologies

With “Kaleidoskop”, Netflix released an exciting series experiment on January 1, 2023: Eight episodes named after different colors that play in random order when you click the play button (the author of this article was about the episode “Schwarz” which the corridor is ), or of course in a chronology determined by the users themselves. But there must be such a thing as a correct order, right?

The answer to this question depends on what you define as “good”. Certainly Is there a chronological order for the robbery in “Kaleidoscope”, which is as follows:

1. Purple – 24 years before the robbery
2. Green – 7 years before the robbery
3. Yellow – 6 weeks before the robbery
4. Orange – 3 weeks before the robbery
5. Blue – 5 days before the robbery
6. White – the robbery
7. Red – the morning after the robbery
8. Pink – 6 months after the robbery

In fact, there are also plenty of other processes that can be used – not everything needs to be told chronologically. It can get much more exciting when the plot jumps back and forth between the different time levels, as we know it from Quentin Tarantino. Therefore Netflix also put together a Tarantino order:

1. Blue – 5 days before the robbery
2. Green – 7 years before the robbery
3. Yellow – 6 weeks before the robbery
4. Orange – 3 weeks before the robbery
5. Purple – 24 years before the robbery
6. Pink – 6 months after the robbery
7. White – the robbery
8. Red – the morning after the robbery

Or a Order in the style of the thriller masterpiece “The usual suspects“which begins six months after the robbery (“Pink”), then jumps back to the very beginning (“Purple”) and follows the chronological order of events from there.

There’s also from the official Netflix Twitter channel a (presumably) correct sequence that goes as follows:

1. Red – the morning after the robbery
2. Orange – 3 weeks before the robbery
3. Yellow – 6 weeks before the robbery
4. Green – 7 years before the robbery
5. Blue – 5 days before the robbery
6. Purple – 24 years before the robbery
7. Pink – 6 months after the robbery
8. White – the robbery

A chronology is also meant to be less serious, but still possible sorted by the colors of the rainbow (from “red” to “white”), as a classic detective story or in the style of the Netflix series “Orange is the new black“ (but which does not start with “orange” but with “green”).
