We had just speculated in an article that the renewal announcement was probably not long in coming. Because there were clear signs that Netflix was up to something – this has now been confirmed with the announcement of Season 2.
One co-produced and part-directed by Tim Burton The first season of “Wednesday” was released on November 23, 2022 and took the Netflix charts by storm. The records tumbled, the fans were wildly enthusiastic – especially Wednesday Addams’ bizarre dance in episode 4 became an internet phenomenon and was copied many times on TikTok, among others. Even superstar Lady Gaga got involved! And Frozen Hands has become the not-so-secret star of the series, following the school adventures of the morbid teenage girl.
The official press release for the series expansion states that “Wednesday” is “not only a global hit with over 1.2 billion hours streamed, but the third highest-grossing series of all time on Netflix“.
In response to the highly anticipated announcement of a new episode, showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar said, “We’re excited to continue Wednesday’s turbulent journey into season two. We can’t wait to dive headfirst into another season and explore the wacky and haunted world of Nevermore.”
Season 2 is now in the towel, but there’s not much more information so far. Above all, of course, the question is when Season 2 of “Wednesday” will be released on Netflix. And nothing has been revealed about the actors either. But we would be very surprised if in addition to Jenna Ortega in the title role, at least Percy Hynes White as Xavier Thorpe, Emma Myers as Enid Sinclair, Joy Sunday as Bianca Barclay and of course Catherine Zeta-Jones and Luis Guzmán as Wednesday’s parents Morticia and Gomez Addams will return.
