Following the finale of the amazing first season of “Andor” (our deserved #1 spot in the best series of 2022), “Star Wars” fans are currently looking forward to the third season of “The Mandalorian” which begins March 1, 2023. . But the waiting time can be shortened in advance with the new episodes of an no less celebrated series from the galaxy far, far away.
On January 4, 2023 – almost a year and a half after the first season finale – the second season of “Star Wars: The Bad Batchon Disney+.
» “Star Wars: The Bad Batch” on Disney+*
Like season 1, the sequel will again contain 16 episodes released weekly. There will be a double episode at the beginning and at the end, so that the last episodes of the season will be on Disney+ on March 29. So every Wednesday in March there will be a double “Star Wars” addition to the streaming service, as the new “Mandalorian” adventures of Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and cute little rascal Grogu are already underway.
This is Star Wars: The Bad Batch
“Star Wars: The Bad Batch” is of course primarily intended for those who are already rooted in the previous animated series “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” and “Star Wars Rebels”. But all other fans of the Star Wars saga should definitely take a look here, especially since, despite the direct sequel to “Clone Wars”, the series works quite independently. Not only is Bad Batch an exciting and sometimes moving tale of an outsider whose raw charm also appeals to a more mature audience, the series also sheds light on an otherwise rather blind spot in the official franchise canon.
There are now a few “Star Wars” titles that span the roughly 20-year span between the prequel and the original trilogy (from “Andor” and “Rogue One” to “Obi-Wan Kenobi” and “Solo” to and with “Rebels”), but none of them are so directly related to “Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sithand thus the beginning of what is probably the darkest hour in the “Star Wars” universe, like “The Bad Batch.”
At the center of the action is Special Forces 99 of the Clone Army of the former Galactic Republic, whose members were not as receptive to the Emperor’s Order 66 as any of their comrades, due in no small part to their genetic modifications. Having defied the Jedi’s devastating assassination order, they now try to find their place in a galaxy turned dictatorship with enemies on all sides.
