“Blood and Cheese”: This sounds like a corruption of George RR Martin’s fictional history book “Fire & Blood”, which served as the basis for “House Of The Dragon”. But in fact they are the nicknames of two characters from “Blood & Fire” involved in some of the book’s most gruesome events. As far back as “House Of The Dragon” season one, some fans believed they had discovered references to blood and cheese – and now an appearance of the two has actually been confirmed.
In an interview with the American industry magazine House Of The Dragon writer/producer Sara Hess revealed, that the “Blood and Cheese” plot will be part of the second season. “We’re currently writing the Season 2 finale,” Hess said of the two hitmen’s appearance. “I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.”
If we understand Hess right here, the big moment of Blood and Cheese (in the English original: Blood & Cheese) seems imminent in the finale of “House Of The Dragon” season 2 – which also fits in that last and/or or penultimate episodes of “Game Of Thrones” like to have the biggest moments of shock (think the Red Wedding or the beheading of Ned Stark).
What is Blood & Cheese about?
That would indeed be an interesting development Blood and Cheese plays a role in direct response to the events of the season 1 finale – pronounce the death of Lucerys Velaryon (played by Elliot Grihault in the series) at the hands of Aemond Targaryen (Ewan Mitchell) and his mighty dragon Vhagar.
Without giving too much away, Blood and Cheese are hired by Rhaenyra (Emma D’Arcy), Daemon (Matt Smith), Mysaria (Sonoya Mizuno) and the Blacks to avenge Lucerys’ death. The two hobby killers – Blood is actually a butcher, Cheese a pied piper – take Alicent (Olivia Cooke) and aimed at the Greensloosely based on the motto: “An eye for an eye, son for son”.
