Lots of movie highlights new to Netflix: the most spectacular shoot-out in movie history and more

The year 2023 is off to a good start for movie fans – at least for those who have a Netflix account. Because the streaming service increased the range of licensed films at the beginning of this year and included some real highlights in the program. The masterpiece of the gangster movie “Heat” and one of the best German movies of recent years: “Victoria” are also included. Below are some titles:

Warmth“: Michael Mann directs an action thriller in which Al Pacino as a cop chases down Robert De Niro as a gangster – a dream come true for gangster movie and cop movie fans with arguably the most spectacular shootout in movie history (5 out of 5 stars).

Victoria“: German director Sebastian Schipper’s film is one of the most intense cinematic experiences of recent years – 130 minutes without a single cut (4.5 out of 5 stars)!

Blue Jasmine“: Not only will she prove what a great actress Cate Blanchett is in “Tár,” but she’s already proven herself in Woody Allen’s “Blue Jasmine.” It won her first Oscar for Best Actress (4.5 out of 5 stars).

Hair“: A romance between an unhappy man and a language software à la Siri? With director Spike Jonze and Joaquin Phoenix and Scarlett Johansson in the lead roles, this is a humorous and sensitive love story (4 out of 5 stars).

Salty“: In this espionage thriller, Angelina Jolie eliminates enemies in rows and cuts an excellent figure in the action-continuous fire thunderstorm, making up for some of the narrative weaknesses. (3.5 out of 5 stars).

The hunter and the ice queen“: An entertaining and fast-paced fantasy fun with impressive action sequences and a good cast around Chris Hemsworth. Above all, Charlize Theron and Emily Blunt deliver an overacting duel at its finest (3.5 out of 5 stars).

And that’s far from all the movies worth seeing that you can find on Netflix right now. There is also the legal family drama “The Judge” with Marvel star Robert Downey Jr., Will Smith in the football drama “Shattering Truth” or the tough mystery gangster thriller “Stereo” with Jürgen Vogel and Moritz Bleibtreu.
