“The Witcher: Blood Origin”: The post-credits scene and its connection to “The Witcher” explained

The Witcher and The Witcher: Blood Origin are closely related, and not just because Bard Jaskier aka Larkspur (Joey Batey) appears in both series. On the contrary, in “Blood Origin” we also learn a lot about how the nameless world of “The Witcher” became as we experience it in the main series (keyword: conjunction of the spheres). And then there’s a connection in the Blood Origin end credits scene…

“Blood Origin” refers to Season 1 of “The Witcher”.

here namely the elven mage Avallac’h (Samuel Blenkin) all of a sudden in a scene from The Witcher Season 1: A disguised Ciri (Freya Alan) plays with some boys in the yard a kind of dice game, but when it is her turn, she suddenly looks up. In “The Witcher” only an empty gate is seen in the corresponding scene, but in “Blood Origin” Ciri now clearly sees Avallac’h.

With this scene, “Blood Origin” not only fills a gap from the first season, but also already indicates a storyline that should play a role in later seasons of “The Witcher”: In the course of Andrzej Sapkowski’s “The Witcher” novels, Ciri travels to other worlds at some point – as already shown in “Blood Origin” and the second season of “The Witcher”.

Avallac’h & Ciri

Among other things, they end up in the world inhabited by another elven species: the Aen Elle. The Aen Elle includes not only Avallac’h, but also the Wild Hunt (Wild Hunt) is part of this group and regularly travels to the world where “The Witcher” mainly takes place.

In the novels we learn from Avallac’h that he is interested in Ciri because Elder Blood runs through her veinstherefore – like her mother Pavetta, among others – she has special magical abilities.

That’s why (and because of her claim to the throne of Cintra) plenty of other characters go after Ciri in the various “The Witcher” stories. In the books, Avallac’h also wants her to be paired with Auberon, king of the Aen Elle, so that from this union a mighty child will emerge.

Also in the series “The Witcher”?

Whether all this will also happen in “The Witcher” on Netflix remains to be seen, after all, the series Avallac’h is very different from its counterpart in the books. However, the course has already been set and Avallac’h’s interest in Ciri has been piqued, which is why we assume that Samuel Blenkin could appear in future seasons of “The Witcher” as well.

Incidentally, Avallac’h is also prominently featured in the video game “The Witcher 3” and the name will therefore sound familiar to one or the other. However, the video games are set after the storyline of the books and have no part in the Netflix series.
