“She rejected my marriage proposal – now what?”

A few days ago I proposed to my girlfriend. I planned everything down to the last detail, discussed and proposed to her family in advance, organized a delicious meal and put all our friends in a separate room so that after her yes we could all celebrate together. I’ve been with this woman for 5 years and I can’t imagine anyone else. I thought she would feel the same.

But when I got on my knees in front of her after dessert, in the crowded restaurant, and wanted to ask for her hand, she said “No, no, no!!!” called.

I couldn’t even finish my first sentence when she got up and stormed out of the room. Then I had to go to the next room and explain to our friends why no happy couple came in here, just me… That was bitter.

That same evening she packed her things and went to her sister. There she is now. She said she needed time.

What should I do? I’ve been thinking about going there but somehow I feel like I’m just making it worse…
