What does happiness have to do with sustainability? And how can we all live happily in the world? The exhibition “Global Happiness – Happiness through Sustainability” by the independent Swiss development organization Helvetas provides possible answers to these questions. It invites visitors on a journey of discovery into the environmental arena at Spreitbach AG, thus combining reflection on happiness and contentment with the global UN goals for sustainable development.
A guided tour will be organized for children as part of family days from December 26, 2022 to January 8, 2023. It explores the question of what sustainable happiness might look like. Happiness that does not harm the environment, other people and future generations. And what makes the world, us, me and you happy?
Recycling, table football and slides
People from Africa, Asia, Latin America and Europe have a say in the exhibition. At the same time, psychologists, economists, social and environmental scientists from happiness studies report on individual and societal framework conditions for happiness and well-being.
The Swiss Environmental Arena in Spreitbach consists of a total of around 45 exhibition worlds to touch, experience and experience. For example, «Recycling City» showing how photovoltaic modules are recycled. You can play on the recycling ball park where the wastes are separated. Or in a pinball machine without electricity for a sustainable energy future. Or test out the energy slide that shows how electricity is produced.
Test e-mobility
There are lasting experiences for adults, too: They can tour in electric bikes, Segways or electric cars to see what electronic mobility might look like. Pedal boards, scooters and other riding devices are available for kids to try.
An exhibition world deals with food. There, in the “Running Buffet” game, you can, among other things, find out which foods have the least impact on the environment and learn more about healthy and balanced eating.
