Hugh Jackman makes his Wolverine comeback in Deadpool 3. That has been fixed since September 2022. However, it’s unclear exactly how Jackman can play the mutant with the adamantium claws again, after all, the character died in “Logan – The Wolverine“ actually a very final and final death. “Something to do with the multiverse or time travel” was the most likely answer so far – which is exactly what Jackman just confirmed in an interview.
Because Jackman was there guest and talked about Wolverine and “Deadpool 3” there as well. He explained his return as follows: “It’s all happening because in the Marvel world there’s this device to move between different timelines. So we can go back now, because, you know, that’s just “science.” So I don’t have to tinker with the ‘Logan’ timeline, which was important to me and I believe the fans do too.”
So time travel or travel through different Marvel timelines is apparently confirmed for “Deadpool 3”. and the key word is the English word “device” that Jackman uses. This can mean “device” on the one hand, as we have translated it above, but also something like “method”, “stylistic device/artwork” or “tool”.
Depending on what exactly Jackman means, in “Deadpool 3” would be one of the “Loki“ Well-known TempPads are used, a device used by the Time Variance Authority (TVA) in the MCU series to travel through different planes of time. That would add to the rumors that Mobius, Owen Wilson’s agent, and the TVA will star in Deadpool 3:
If Jackman means “device” less in a concrete sense and more as a narrative device, that would also fit the MCU well. Because, as past movies like Spider-Man: No Way Home and Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness have shown, there are plenty of other methods to travel through time and dimensions in the Avengers universe.
Anyway, Jackman’s statements also seem to confirm the other rumors that have been circulating about “Deadpool 3”: Much speculation and (allegedly?) insider reports revolve around Deadpool and Wolverine visiting various old superhero franchises and timelines (including 2005’s “Fantastic Four” and 2007’s “Fantastic Four: Rise Of The Silver Surfer”, among others).
