Bathing with oatmeal

When it’s cold outside in the winter, we enjoy cuddling at home or taking a hot bubble bath. We relax in the bathtub, get away from daily life, empty our heads.
Bath bombs, salts, oils, or flower petals often go into the tub. But now another product needs to be in the bubble bath: oatmeal apparently makes skin particularly soft.

Oatmeal helps sensitive skin

Many people suffer from dry skin during the fall and winter months. Dry heating air inside and low temperatures outside ensure this, among other things. Itching, redness and irritation may occur, especially in people with sensitive skin. It may sound strange, but this is exactly where oatmeal is said to have a gentle and calming effect. They help the skin regain its moisture balance.

If you want to try the oatmeal relaxation bath, use about 500 grams of oatmeal per tub. Ideally, the flakes should be ground before entering the water. The powder is then added to warm water. You should stay in it for at least a quarter of an hour before washing it off with lukewarm water and then patting your skin dry.
Oatmeal can also be stuffed into a scented sachet. If you don’t have it, you can also use a thin sock and stuff the stamps there. You then get into the tub, taking the bag or socks with you. Alternatively, you can take it with you in the shower, apply it to your skin, leave it for a few minutes and rinse. Tip: Soak the bag briefly under water beforehand.

short skin test

Anyone with very sensitive skin should test first whether they can tolerate oatmeal. To do this, put a pinch of ground oatmeal on the inside of your wrist and leave it for about 15 minutes. After the exposure time, wash the wrist with warm water.
Then you should wait about an hour to see if the flakes actually trigger a reaction. But when you are sure that there is no rash, you can enjoy the oatmeal bath without worry.
