“SWAT” starring ex-“Criminal Minds” star Shemar Moore is very popular in Germany, especially on Netflix. The first two seasons already helped the action series to a top spot among the most streamed content at the time, season 3 did the same over a year ago – and now the fourth season, recently released by the streaming provider, is airing diligently again.
Netflix, however, is well behind the American broadcast. The new edition of the 1970s series, also known in Germany as “The Hard Five”, about a special police unit in LA (which was also the template for a star-studded cinema adaptation in 2003) is already there its sixth season. Those who want to watch the brand new episodes do not have to despair in this country either, but must use a different streaming subscription. The pay-TV channel Sky will once again be responsible for the German premiere.

Today, December 14, 2022, is the sixth “SWAT” season at Heaven. Every Wednesday a new episode appears in German and English on the Sky streaming service WOW, which is then also broadcast on Sky One in the evenings.
And what about season 5?
However, all the “SWAT” fans at the Netflix booth who are now flirting with a WOW subscription to continue watching right away have a problem: The fifth season, which is also still missing on Netflix, is currently not available on the Sky platform (there are only the first three seasons except the sixth). Fortunately, there are alternatives – although you have to dig a little deeper into your wallet.
So can she fifth season of “SWAT” can be purchased as VoD from Amazon – and is then available alongside the original version and the German dubbed version (Incidentally, right from the start with the new speaker Alexander Doering for main character Hondo, who replaced his seriously ill predecessor Michael Deffert at the end of season 4).

The individual episodes can be purchased here for 2.99 euros each, the complete season with a total of 22 episodes costs 34.99 euros. Incidentally, the sixth season is also for sale via Amazon. There are already eight episodes online (and therefore more than on Sky), as they will be released parallel to the US premiere. However, these are only available in English for now. Authority over the first use of the German version remains with Sky.

When is SWAT Season 5 coming to Netflix and Prime Video?
To get the full “SWAT” enjoyment, you currently have to roam the German streaming landscape, so many can hardly wait for at least season 5 to make its way to Netflix (or to the Amazon Prime Video subscription, which also includes the first four seasons at no extra cost). But until then it may take a while. While Season 3 on Netflix followed about half a year after the first two seasons, Season 4 lasted over a year.
Based on the release dates so far, it’s hard to make reliable predictions about the Netflix release of the fifth season “SWAT”. However, for the second half of 2023, this is unlikely to happen.
