Every year again, sorry, every week on Sunday evening we inform you about the Netflix reboots of the coming week – also and especially now in the run-up to Christmas. And of course the Christmas movies should not be missed in the coming days, but there are also a lot of movies and series that are worth watching. But enough of the preamble: Here are the Netflix highlights of the week, December 12-18, 2022.
Monday: Quiet start to the week
Strictly speaking, we should be writing December 13-17, as no Netflix reboots have been announced for Monday, December 12, nor for Sunday, December 18. This at least gives you more time for the remaining titles on your certainly bulging viewing list.
Tuesday: Colorful all kinds
Tuesday isn’t exactly the biggest launch day of the week either, but Netflix has announced three titles for December 13: the animated series “Gudetama: an egg cell adventure“ (an egg and a newly hatched chick search for their mother), the second season of the documentary series “Last Chance You: Basketball“ as well as the South Korean comedy series “Behind Every Star”from which a new episode will appear every Tuesday.
Wednesday: Western & Christmas
With the Westerner “Death train to Yuma“ The first real highlight of the coming week awaits us on Wednesday. “3:10 To Yuma” (the original title) is a classic western staged with modern means that shines as an excellent, perfectly acted character drama. The leading roles include Christian Bale, Russell Crowe and Peter Fonda.
Also starts with “I believe in Santa Claus“ the first Christmas movie of the week. Animal lovers can look forward to the baby kangaroo Mala in the documentary “Kangaroo Valley“ rejoice and get true crime fans with “Don’t answer: the phone scammer’s case“new supplies.
Thursday: Assassin action and much more
A colorful bouquet of genres awaits us on Thursday, and there should be something for everyone. Take the killer action comedy “The Big 4“ from Indonesian director Timo Tjahjanto, who has already proven that he understands brutal martial arts action in the style of “The Raid” with “Headshot” and “The Night Comes For Us” (both also available on Netflix). “The Big 4” seems to be a slightly more humorous movie.
If you like it even more humorous and less action packed, you should go for the romantic dramedy “Drinking buddies“ take a look with the likes of Anna Kendrick or with Will Arnett in the comedy Christmas special “Murderville” “Who Killed Santa? A Murderville Murder Mystery“ to investigate.
In addition, the feel-good film will start on Wednesday “Mrs. Taylor’s Singing Club“ and the anime “Violet Evergarden: Memories”. And for the kids there is the animation series “sonic prime“ like “Masha and the bear“ season 5
Friday: Cinema from around the world
On Friday we continue with an interesting, varied program of films and series from many different countries: the flagship is undoubtedly “Bardo, the fictional chronicle of a handful of truths“ four-time Oscar winner Alejandro González Iñárritu (“The Revenant”) from Mexico. The football film comes from Germany “the big dream“ with Daniel Brühl and the German-Swiss co-production “The big cat“.
With the gangster movies “easy money“ and “easy money 2“ from Sweden and the series “A storm at Christmas“ from Norway, but there are also newcomers from Scandinavia. And with the high school drama “Far from home” and the RomCom “Özel Ders – private lessons“ go to Nigeria or Turkey.
However, the American contributions on Thursday are the fourth season of the animated comedy “Paradise PD“ as well as the new agent action series “The recruitment“ with Black Adam and To All The Boys star Noah Centineo.
Saturday: A German film icon in the picture
On Saturday we have another tip for all fans of the great German filmmaker Wim Wenders: In “Wim Wenders’ story of his early years” the director himself talks about his childhood and youth and his love for art and film.
Sunday: time for the watchlist
As already written above, no restart is known for Sunday. However, Netflix often releases new titles without announcing them in advance. And even if that’s not the case: with the numerous films and series on Thursday and Friday, you should be well supplied anyway…
