Time will tell if they will live up to that label in the long run. A cinematic milestone that has held this status unchallenged for decades is George A. Romero’s “Night of the Living Dead.”

The ultimate zombie classic like you’ve never seen it before is available since November 24 – in the 4K restored version. They are available on DVD and Blu-ray (for example in the Arthaus shop and also on Amazon*), but the full Ultra HD experience is of course only available on 4K Blu-ray. Wherever there are movies, you can get them as a limited edition in a steelbook. Horror fans who want to give the cult classic a very special place on the shelf are offered an alternative, exclusively in the PLAION PICTURES shop with the Limited Collector’s Edition, which will be an eye-catcher on every shelf…
“The Night of the Living Dead”: Livelier Than Ever!
The set includes the movie on both 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray – which makes perfect sense. Because even if you don’t have Ultra HD equipment, you will get over it the currently best version of “The Night of the Living Dead” To be happy. Even the standard Blu-ray scores with unprecedented sharpness and rich contrasts – without swallowing image details in the many dark sequences. The 4K version looks even better, although you have to look very closely to see the differences. Film fans with XXL televisions or beamers and screens have a clear advantage here.
As for the soundtrack, the limits of the low-budget black-and-white film of the 1960s are clearly audible. While genre fans can look forward to the original dubbed version, opens this qualitatively unknown world of sound – it probably just isn’t there anymore. The extras that come with the Limited Collector’s Edition are all the more exciting.
There are plenty of bonus features on board, such as the documentary “Raising The Dead: Re-Examining ‘Night Of The Living Dead'” and an alternate version of the movie titled “Night of Anubis”. The set is also filled with a number of included haptic extras: in addition to the 4K Steelbook, you can expect five trading cards, three ‘Night of the Living Dead’ posters and a 32-page booklet about the film.
In addition, as a special treat, there is the comic “The Night of the Living Dead – Father Sins”. This is the first installment in the adaptation developed by Jean-Luc Istin, which offers a slightly different take on the iconic zombie classic. The two sequels “Mandy’s Demons” (Part 2) and “Little Family Secrets” (Part 3) are sold separately.
