Only “Squid Game” and “Stranger Things” Have Done: Netflix Sensation “Dahmer” Celebrates Next Mega Success

“Dahmer – Monster: The Story of Jeffrey Dahmer” generated all sorts of controversy due to its ruthless handling of the brutal acts of the eponymous serial killer (played by Evan Peters), especially due to its repeatedly accused re-traumatization of real victims and their relatives. But that should not least have contributed to the miniseries getting as much attention as few other series this year.

“Dahmer” became a mega hit for Netflix. And the record reporting only ends two months after its release on September 21, 2022. American trade journals now report unanimously: In the first 60 days after its release, “Dahmer” was watched for a total of more than one billion (!) hours by Netflix subscribers worldwide. To date only the Korean overhit”Squid game‘ and the fourth season of the mystery hype ‘Weird stuff” created.

Will ‘Wednesday’ Soon Become Billionaire Series No. 4?

With 1.65 and 1.35 billion hours, “Squid Game” and the fourth season of “Stranger Things” even reached this milestone in the first month (the numbers after 60 days are not known here, but should be quite a bit higher lying down). All other Netflix productions can’t keep up with the “Dahmer” numbers, either after 28 or 60 days. After all, the true crime series from “American Horror Story” creator Ryan Murphy has catapulted itself to number 3 of the most successful Netflix series ever (with 856.2 million hours watched) after just one month.

However, “Dahmer” could be knocked off the stage in the coming weeks. “Wednesday” is currently blossoming into the next sensation for Netflix. Tim Burton’s new Addams Family series racked up a whopping 341.2 million views in just one week — even surpassing “Dahmer” (192.2 million hours in its first week) and the most recent “Stranger Things” — season (286.8 million hours) in the shade. So if “Wednesday” shows some persistence, it could not only mark another third spot in Netflix’s highest-grossing series, but also the fourth series to overcome the billion-dollar hurdle for the streaming provider.

Seasons 2 and 3 of “Monster” are on order

Anyway, the gigantic success of “Dahmer” can’t just be dismissed. And so it’s no surprise that Netflix wants to build on this soon. Jeffrey Dahmer’s story is complete, but as the “Monster” subtitle implies, the series will expand into an anthology format under this label, with (at least) two more seasons each centering on a different monstrous personality. should, which kept society in suspense.

However, it is not yet known who will be chosen here and when seasons 2 and 3 of “Monster” can be expected.
