What is the best ski area in Switzerland for families?

Blick and Switzerland Tourism are looking for the most beautiful ski areas of this year’s winter season and are awarding Blick Winter Awards in six categories. Each ski area in Switzerland had the opportunity to register for a maximum of two of the six categories. You decide who will win!

We are looking for a winning ski area in the “family” category, where the little ones can also enjoy snow sports, with easy training areas for skiing and family-friendly entertainment and leisure activities.

The following ski areas are registered in the “Family” category. We present them here in alphabetical order. Vote for your favorite now on www.winterawards.ch!

Adelboden-Lenk, Canton of Bern

While the little ones try their first skis with Snowli or Globi in Kinderland, children and teenagers unwind at the ski school, the many family-friendly small chair lifts or the numerous leisure facilities in Adelboden-Lenk.

Aletsch Arena, Canton of Valais

The vehicular, snowy and sunny Aletsch Arena (Riederalp, Bettmeralp, Fiesch-Eggishorn) has been awarded the “Welcome to the Family” seal of approval. Children and teenagers up to the age of 20 can also ski for free on Saturdays.

Anzere, Canton of Valais

Anzère describes itself as a place to create unforgettable memories: it’s warm, inviting and manageable, with a pedestrian village square that allows it to host families with peace of mind.

Arosa Lenzerheide, Canton of Graubünden

Family ski days are really fun at Arosa Lenzerheide. Here you can meet Globi on one of the numerous blue slopes or in the free children’s areas.

Bellwald, Canton of Valais

You can come to the Bellwald family park with your family, take a deep breath and recharge your batteries. You are in a world of your own and you spend a lot of time with yourself and your family. No matter how big, small and mixed your family is, and no matter how many generations come, everyone will find something for themselves here.

Bergbahnen Obersaxen Mundaun, canton of Graubünden

Everyone gets their money’s worth in the Mundaun winter sports district of Obersaxen. Snow-guaranteed slopes combined with excellent piste conditions guarantee carefree winter fun. Three ski schools introduce children to the art of winter sports with experienced ski and snowboard instructors.

Biel-Kinzig, Canton of Uri

The various pistes in the Biel-Kinzig ski area offer skiing fun for the whole family. While the first ski experiences can be gathered in the children’s chairlift, others enjoy the blue slopes seamlessly along the chairlift.

Blatten-Belalp, Canton of Valais

The 45,000-square-metre free Hexenland in Belalp is the ideal place for the little ones to learn skiing and snowboarding while having fun. The 8 km long toboggan run with Funslopes Schneekringel, Zauberring and Hexenschuss promises fun for the whole family.

Brambrüesch, canton of Graubnden

Brambrüesch has its own charm and convinces connoisseurs, families and athletes with an extensive winter offer. Admire, among other things, the traditional Tschu-Tschu train, the children’s lift, and the scenic natural snow paradise.

Braunwald, Canton of Glarus

Easy tracks, conveyor belts, rope lifts, Bartli parcours tunnels and other great exercise aids help kids ski.

Champex Lac, Grand Saint Bernard, Canton of Valais

The resort town, with its lake and traditional wooden chalets, is not wrongly referred to as “Switzerland’s Little Canada”. Skiing is possible for all children from a young age, with a beginner’s piste on the lake shore.

Charmey, Canton of Friborg

The ski resort is family friendly. The pistes are accessible from all levels, 7 of the 12 pistes are blue pistes: SSS Charmey offers a variety of courses, and snow kindergartens allow the youngest to start skiing.

Crans Montana, Canton of Valais

Crans-Montana has been awarded the “Family Destination” seal of quality. Children up to 9 years old use the mountain railways for free and learn to ski on the snow-covered golf course or at the snow kindergarten.

Engadin Scuol Zernez, canton of Graubünden

Skiing pleasure is guaranteed at Motta Naluns. For the little ones there is a “Nalunsin” children’s area, and at Snowpark Scuol the brave jump over kicks and go through tunnels. In addition to the exciting ski area, ten different toboggan runs, a diverse program of “holiday tips” for young and old, among other things, offer guests the opportunity to get a behind-the-scenes look at local businesses.

Engadin St. Moritz, canton of Graubnden

Snow sports-loving families are in particularly safe hands on the sunny slopes of Zuoz’s local mountain, Pizzet (2,465 m above sea level). It is here that the first careful steps regarding skis are taken. With the pony lift, magic carpet, and other terrain aids, little ones can grasp the basics like snow shoveling, braking and turning with Zuoz ski school.

Engelberg-Titlis, Canton of Obwalden

In Globi’s and Schmuggli’s Wonderland, young people will find the perfect conditions for their first ride. Thanks in part to the longest winter season in Switzerland, Engelberg is a talent factory for ski stars.

Grachen, Canton of Valais

As a perfect “Family Destination”, Grächen has a wide range of family and child-friendly holiday apartments and hotels. A wide variety of ski schools and attractive amusement and snow parks make for a perfect day on the mountain.

Jaun, Canton of Friborg

Jaun offers snow sports especially for younger guests. At the local ski school, children learn about their first spin on the adapted terrain. The app tilt is easily accessible and is equipped with a people mover, drag lift, and one button lift.

La Fouly, Grand Saint Bernard, Canton of Valais

The Petite-Combe track is a paradise for learning to ski. Here, the children of the region, including Daniel Yule, learned to ski at the foot of Dolent, on the French-Italian-Swiss border.

Laax, canton of Graubnden

Flims Laax Falera has been awarded the “Welcome to Families” seal of approval several times by the Swiss Tourism Association (STV) and can count itself among the most family-friendly areas in Switzerland.

Leukerbad, Canton of Valais

A magical snow-covered mountain world for the whole family: Torrent ski area and Snowpark Sportarena in Leukerbad, insider tips for snow sports enthusiasts of all ages.

Malbun, Principality of Liechtenstein

Due to the good overview in the Malbun ski area, even younger children can easily wander outside on their own, the hotels are visible from almost the entire network of slopes.

Marbachegg, Canton of Lucerne

Marbachegg is a popular ski resort for families with children. They get their money’s worth for little money. At the children’s chairlift, located right next to the valley station of the gondola lift, the little ones start their first ski or snowboard trials.

Moosalp region, Canton of Valais

The Moosalp region offers more than 28,000 square meters of children’s paradise to Ski Area Test Award winner families. It has two practical lifts, many arches and ramps and can be reached directly by car.

Nax Télé Mont-Noble, Canton of Valais

The Nax Télé Mont-Noble ski area is a ski and snowboard destination for families. The youngest skiers and beginners can practice on the magic carpet at Espace Loisirs Mont-Noble before taking off on the amazing slopes the ski area has to offer.

Niederurner Tali, Canton of Glarus

With the 260-metre-long chairlift in Niederurner Täli, it’s perfect to practice while having fun on the training track. The Müller family is now the second generation who operates their chairlifts with great dedication and looks forward to many winter sports enthusiasts.

Pizol Railways, St. Gallen Canton

The children’s area is located at the mountain station. Fun and entertainment guaranteed. There are three freely accessible conveyor belts (magic carpets), a ski school and a children’s track with soft forest elements.

Prättigau, canton of Graubünden

The Grüsch-Danusa ski area means a rich family day out. Countless experiences with magic carpets, ghost trains, bouncy castle and snowmobile fun.

RDDM – Portes du Soleil, Canton of Valais

In the middle of Portes du Soleil is the Dents du Midi district, where children are given a very special place. More than 60 activities are offered each winter for them and their families.

Sainte-Croix / Les Rasses, Canton of Vaud

Sattel-Hochstuckli, Canton of Schwyz

The manageable snow sports area, with its rotating gondola, three chairlifts and 14 kilometers of pistes, is very popular with families and is particularly suitable for beginners and those returning to skiing.

Savognin, canton of Graubünden

Children deepen their first skiing skills at La Nars, the friendly children’s ski paradise in Val Surses. It’s easy to climb through the covered magic carpet and colorful gates, various trails and Magicpark.

Ski resort Tschiertschen, canton Graubünden

Offering 32 kilometers of natural snow enjoyment, the winter sports area is also very popular among families with its manageable size. With tobogganing, skating, playing ice hockey and much more, there’s a lot to experience off the rink for young and old alike.

Schratten Flühli cable car, Canton of Lucerne

The small Schratten Flühli ski area is an easily overlooked winter paradise for families. The wide pistes offer a variety of downhill slopes and are suitable for both small skiers and sport skiers.

Wilere Binn ski lift, Canton of Valais

The Wilere chairlift is ideal for families. Here, away from the hustle and bustle, children can learn the right technique in peace and quiet.

Sorenberg, Canton of Lucerne

With 53 kilometers of pistes, the family-friendly ski area offers a wide range of snow sports for all generations: a children’s area, many blue and red pistes and a wide variety of offers for non-skiers.

Stoos, Canton of Schwyz

Family, welcome to Stoos. In winter as well as in summer, children love skiing and the rest of the family is in good hands.

Waltz, Canton of Graubünden

Waltz is a small, manageable ski area and is therefore ideal for families. Everyone, young and old, can learn to ski and snowboard at the ski school.

Vercorin, Canton of Valais

The Vercorin family resort offers you a ski area for all difficulty levels and a free area for beginners in the “Creux du Lavioz”. The whole family gets their money’s worth here!

Villars-Gryon-Diablerets, Canton of Vaud

Villars-Gryon-Diablerets offers many opportunities to learn to ski in private snow gardens and amusement parks. Thanks to the appropriate infrastructure and ski schools, the little ones learn snow sports in a fun way.
