These countries have the longest coastline.

Norway

With its islands and long fjords, Norway has the longest coastline in Europe. A total of 58,000 kilometers – this is almost anywhere in the world. However, evaluating many fjords and islands is not easy. Some researchers come to different conclusions, ranging from 25,000 to 100,000 kilometers. Norway is particularly known for the beauty of its shores, with high mountains and deep fjords resembling Lake Lucerne in XXL. The ideal terrain to travel for hours on winding coastal roads, especially for campers with mobile homes. With some luck, you might even spot the Northern Lights in northern Norway, especially during the long nights from autumn to spring.

Greenland

Greenland especially fascinates outdoor enthusiasts and arctic fans. Anyone who vacations here (usually on a cruise) often seeks adventure in unrealistic areas: a large part of the country is covered with ice, although even agriculture is possible in the inhabited south. The 44,000 km long beach, where glaciers partially calve, is also impressive. Greenland is located partly in the North Atlantic and partly in the Arctic Ocean. But legally, the autonomous country belongs to the Kingdom of Denmark.

Greece

Ranking first in the Mediterranean with 13,676 kilometers of coastline, Greece undoubtedly makes the country one of the most popular holiday destinations around “Mare Nostrum”. From pristine, beautiful islands like Corfu to elegant luxury destinations like Santorini, there is everything a sun worshiper’s heart desires. And when you need a break from the beach, you can take excursions into the past: ancient excavations in Greece are never far away.

United Kingdom

United Kingdom; It consists of England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Taken together, the four (former) countries administer 12,492 kilometers of coastline. If you want to explore most of these miles on foot, there’s the England Coast Path that takes you all over England. Not all chapters are marked yet. But the project must be finished as soon as possible. The current section in Southwest Cornwall is very beautiful. Otherwise, “Great Britain” offers enough variety for the trip of a lifetime, from the highlands of Scotland and the green hills of Northern Ireland to the beaches and great bays of Wales and its many vibrant metropolises.

Italy

With around 7600 kilometers of coastline, Italy lags far behind Greece – the beaches of Liguria, the Adriatic Sea or Tuscany are still fascinating. While the North tends to be a mass tourism destination, swimming facilities in Calabria or Apulia are still far from international visitors. If you want to enjoy an authentic Italian beach vacation, you should head south. An insider tip (not just for bathing) is the island of Sicily – only a few international tourists get lost here compared to the north.

Croatia

Croatia is the country with the most islands in the Western Mediterranean. The total coastline of the mainland and the entire island reaches 7368 kilometers. About 1200 islands and small, uninhabited rocks are best explored by boat. In addition to the island world of Greece, the Croatian Adriatic is the most popular destination in the Mediterranean for a sailing holiday on a luxury yacht or self-help small boat.

Denmark

Northern Denmark, with more than 1,400 islets, has a coastline of 7300 kilometers. As Denmark stretches long and narrow to the north, nowhere here is more open than 52 kilometers from the coast. The landscape is shaped by the tides of the North and Baltic Seas. If you want to take a walk on one of the kilometers long beaches, you should be prepared for all kinds of weather conditions.

Iceland

Iceland has been experiencing a tourism boom for several years. The reason for this is its impressive scenery with volcanoes, glaciers and hot springs. Iceland lies in a geological fracture zone and is therefore particularly dramatic due to volcanism. The 4900 km long coastline partially surrounded by glaciers is also impressive (a boat trip to one of these ice walls is particularly impressive). The most popular form of tourism is the camper tour on the so-called ring road that goes around the entire island.
