The Addams family is back. The new fantasy series “Wednesday” about the school years of Gothic brat Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega) has easily conquered the Netflix charts and dethroned the German mystery production “1899”. Wednesday was banished to Nevermore Academy against her will by her parents Morticia and Gomez Addams. These are played by Catherine Zeta-Jones and Luis Guzmán – both seasoned Hollywood stars. In the the actor, who has more than 150 different roles to his credit, spoke of the fact that he is most often recognized for a role in a film he has never starred in. Who he’s confused with: the now-deceased Rick Aviles, who plays Willie Lopez, the character who kills Sam Wheat (Swayze) in Ghost.
“Even today we can walk through an airport or a shopping center and someone would ask me, “Why did you kill Patrick Swayze? How about Whoopi [Goldberg] to collaborate?’ If I got a penny every time something like this happened, I’d probably own this studio today, an island, and a few private jets. I swear,” Guzman explained to Rich Eisen.
At some point, Luis Guzmán accepted “his” role in “Ghost”.
Rumor has it that Guzmán was even offered the role of Willie Lopez at the time. That’s not true, the actor explained – he has nothing to do with “Ghost”, he’s just constantly confused with Rick Aviles.
He had previously tried to clear up the misunderstanding. That all changed when he tried to explain to a 90-year-old woman at the Detroit airport a few years ago that he wasn’t the Ghost man. She might know him as Jacopo from “Monte Cristo” – to which the lady vehemently assured him that no, he hadn’t played in it. He just accepted the situation – “his” most famous role will always be in “Ghost”.
