Accidents at “7 vs. Wild”: threatens Fritz Meinecke with consequences? Lawyer arranges

Seven Youtubers, seven days alone on a lonely island: that’s the concept behind Fritz Meinecke’s “7 vs. Wild”. The entertainment factor of the survival show is how well the contestants cope with complete isolation and assert themselves in the wilderness.

But how can the production guarantee the safety of the participants? What if something worse happens in this absolutely exceptional situation? Lawyer Christian Solmecke scrutinizes his YouTube channel when sharks are sighted off the “7 vs. Wild” coast or poisonous trees come into play and also clarifies the issue of possible responsibility in an emergency situation.

There have been several dangerous scenes in “7 vs. Wild” several times. Candidates sometimes put themselves in danger deliberately, but sometimes also unknowingly. Curious fans sent WBS Legal attorney Christian Solmecke the scenes where the contestants even put their lives in danger.

The questions behind it: Who is responsible if something really happens to Knossi and his colleagues on the lonely island?

Cologne’s lawyer also has no clear answer. Using Knossi’s example, Solmecke tries to explain his view of things on YouTube. As a reminder, Knossi was dropped 200 meters offshore over the water from production and had to save himself on land.

“For Knossi it was all a life and death struggle,” says the lawyer, and Knossi himself admits that he “almost nibbled” when he arrived on the beach. The lawyer thinks it’s lucky for the production that the web video producer didn’t do anything wrong, because – and many fans also wonder – who is liable in the event of an accident or worse?

“You cannot say: ‘We do not accept any liability for this’,” Solmecke explains the legal situation. He therefore sees the focus on negligence. In case of accidents, the production may very well be liable for damage, namely “if they have acted with gross negligence”. Solmecke believes that throwing an untrained person into the water so far from land is just gross negligence, and therefore sees the possible blame in the shoes of Fritz Meinecke and his production.

“It’s different when YouTubers make mistakes themselves,” notes Solmecke. Because if the production company informs its candidates in advance about lurking dangers, the responsibility ultimately lies with the participants themselves.
