Italy’s singing nun lays down her order

Known as the “singing nun”, the Italian nun Cristina Scuccia, winner of “The Voice Of Italy” 2014, has decided to take a new path in life. The 35-year-old announced her departure from the Ursuline Order because she wanted to continue with music.

“Looking back, I look back on my journey with a deep sense of gratitude,” said Cristina Scuccia, who was a guest on Canale 5’s talk show “Verissimo”. is to anchor your certainties than to question yourself. Is there such a thing as right or wrong? I think it takes courage to listen to your heart,” Scuccia said. Born in Sicily, she has no intention of giving up her journey of faith. She is grateful for everything she has experienced so far.

After her first appearance on Italian television in “The Voice Of Italy” in 2014, “Suor Cristina”, as she is called in Italian, became a star within a few days. Cheered on by other nuns, she sang Alicia Keys’ “No One” and Bon Jovi’s “Livin’ on a Prayer” – earning the stormy applause of the audience and the astonishment of the judges. The video of their first performance alone was clicked millions of times on YouTube. Cristina continued one round week after week and in the end she was declared the winner by about two-thirds of the audience. (saw/sda/apa)
