After the cancellation of “Fate: The Winx Saga” by Netflix: the creator of the series wants a film franchise in the style of “Harry Potter”

The cancellation of the popular fantasy series “Fate: The Winx Sage” came as a shock to many fans from which they still have not recovered. Iginio Straffi, creator of the television series “Winx Club”, also appeared in an interview with Surprised by Netflix executives’ decision to end the series after just two seasons: “I’ve yet to hear what Netflix has to say officially […]. I will talk to Netflix to understand what happened.” But the creative head of the “Winx” world sees the end of the series as a creative opportunity.

Finally a Big Budget Winx movie?

The end of the Netflix series also means Straffi can now set his sights on his long-planned live-action “Winx” movie, which he’s targeting for a budget of more than $100 million.. Straffi describes the film as the “probably […] most important project of my entire career”. And the signs for a realization of the film are currently quite good, as the fairytale world has regained some popularity due to the hype surrounding the Netflix series.

After the inventor of the six magical fairy girls turned down several offers to make a low-budget “Winx” live-action film in the past, Iginio Straffi now believes it’s time to make a feature film too. Budget that combines everything fans would expect from a “Winx” blockbuster.

The “Winx” Movie Won’t Be “Fate: The Winx Sage” 2.0

However, if you’re expecting a movie sequel to the Netflix fantasy series “Fate: The Winx Sage,” you’ll be disappointed. In a possible feature film, the emphasis should be less on the relationships between the characters at school and more on the “epic” fantasy aspects of the franchise. Iginio Straffi emphasizes that he now wants to do “something more reminiscent of ‘Harry Potter’ or superhero movies”.

He also wants to bring the film adaptation back to the roots of the original animated series: “The audience I want to address consists of those who, like the audience of the Netflix series, look back nostalgically to the original animated series from 20 years ago , and of families. who want to go to the cinema with children aged 10 and older […]. The Netflix series relies heavily on the existing characters while creating a slightly darker atmosphere.” Overall, the live-action adaptation aims to capture more of the spirit of the original animated series.

Will the Trix finally get their grand entrance?

Straffi also has a clear idea for the choice of the antagonist in the film: The Trix. Many fans had already hoped that the nemesis of the teenage fairies would appear in the Netflix series, but as is known, nothing came of it. The Trix are a trio of evil ancestral witches, consisting of Icy, Darcy, and Stormy, who constantly confront the “Winx” fairies.

It remains to be seen if a studio will get their hands on the film in the near future and when we’ll actually get to see the live-action adaptation of the hit series.
