Belinda Bencic (25) loves mandalas. “I was one of the first to start drawing mandalas on the WTA tour,” the trendsetter says. “It’s almost like being a kid,” the Olympic tennis champion laughs as she draws little shapes in many different colors. Despite this – or precisely for this reason – mandalas are one of his gifts to sports colleague Ajla Del Ponte (26) who is an Olympic finalist in the 100m over. Because the illustrations also help with mental preparation for a competition.
Exchange of gifts among female athletes
The two athletes pack a pack for each other (here from Del Ponte to Bencic). Inside: personal gifts from various categories. Mandala comes from the previously defined category of «I Time».
Gift packages provide a surprising insight into the daily lives of two athletes we usually only know from the stadiums. They are gifts for personal well-being, better concentration, fitness or just a little distraction and fun. Stick to the motto: You should do something good for yourself (and the other person) from time to time.
Avocado toast with poached egg
A big topic here: nutrition. Del Ponte gets an egg hunter. He tells us right away: “I tried to boil eggs often. It always ended in chaos.” The poacher was supposed to make it easy. Bencic should know, after all, he loves avocado toast with poached eggs in the round.
From the category “Motivation” in the package: a wrist warmer with the inscription “Go Ajla”. However, the discussion quickly shows that such sweat bracelets are not very common among track and field athletes. In tennis, it’s like this: “Otherwise your hands will sweat all the time and you can no longer hold your racket properly.” Will Ajla wear it in the future?
