Mistake 1: Store the paint in the refrigerator
The myth that nail polish is best stored in the refrigerator continues to this day. Paint becomes viscous due to cold and becomes unusable more quickly. It is best to store nail polish in a box or drawer that is protected from direct sunlight and not exposed to high or low temperatures.
Error 2: Base skin is missing
It is worth applying a base coat before actually painting. This smoothes the surface of the nails and makes it easier to apply the polish later. In addition, the base coat protects the nails from discoloration and allows the polish to last better. This step should never be skipped to enjoy a manicure or pedicure as long as possible.
Mistake 3: Shake the bottle
Probably the most common mistake is to shake the nail polish well before using it. As a result, small bubbles form in the paint that can cause stains when applied. Also, a lot of polish ends up on the neck of the bottle and on the brush, which means that when you polish later, too much product ends up on the nails. Instead, hold the varnish at a slight angle and rotate it slowly a few times before opening it.
Mistake 4: Applying too much paint
Nail polish applied too thickly dries much more slowly, making it more susceptible to scratches or dents, but also crumbles more easily. With slightly sheer colors, one thin layer is all it takes for a beautiful effect, you apply two layers to prevent lines in intense hues and achieve a richer color result.
Mistake 5: Removing paint stains the wrong way
Something goes wrong even with professionals, and not only the nail, but also the skin around it has become discolored. This is not a problem and can be easily removed. However, if you do this too hastily and just use a finger, cloth or cotton swab, this can damage the nail polish that hasn’t dried yet. It’s best to dip a flat brush in nail polish remover and use it to carefully remove blemishes from the skin so you don’t have to fix the next mistake right away.
Mistake 6: Dry the nails
If you are impatient and want your nails to dry faster, you should never dry them. There is too much moisture in the breath that delays drying. You either take your time and wait until the nail polish has completely hardened, or you use special products that allow the nail polish to dry faster – for example, there are sprays or drops that have this effect.
