Chris Evans is the new ‘Sexiest Man Alive’

“The Universe Has Spoken,” is the People magazine headline on the cover, identifying American actor Chris Evans as the new “Sexiest Man Alive.” Evans is best known for his role as the selfless and self-sacrificing superhero Captain America in Marvel’s multi-billion dollar Avengers franchise.

If you had told school-age Chris Evans that he would one day be called the sexiest man in the world, he would have been “excited”. The 41-year-old actor tells this in the cover story of the magazine. “That would probably be the way to the cool table where I wasn’t sitting.” Today, however, the Boston native braces himself for all sorts of teasing from his friends.

Evans is confident that his mother will unreservedly approve of the dazzling title. “My mom will be so happy,” he says. “She takes pride in everything I do, but she really brags about it,” he adds. And indeed: “I am not surprised at all”, she is confidently quoted by the magazine. “Our family will be beside themselves.”

This year alone, Chris Evans starred in Pixar’s “Lightyear,” Netflix’s “Gray Man” and directed three new films, including 2023’s “Ghosted” for AppleTV+, which he also produces. He is also still an employee of “Een Startpunt”, the citizen engagement platform, which he launched in 2020.

He’s also known on social media as the devoted, photo-loving dog daddy of Dodger, his boxer mix. And he tries to spend as much time as possible at home and with his family in Boston. When it comes to offering roles, he now pays more attention to “where the film is shot,” he says. “I’m too old to live out of a suitcase for six months and I’ve entered a finer stage where I’m just happy to be home.”

He’s also thinking a lot more about his future outside of acting – one that includes marriage and fatherhood. “It’s something I really want,” Chris Evans says. However, it is unclear whether his fans will find out when the time has come, as the actor also admits: “Some things you only want for yourself, or just for my family and friends.”

Chris Evans usually keeps his love life out of the public eye. From July 2016 to March 2018, he is said to have been in a relationship with actress Jenny Slate, who is one year younger. In the summer of 2020, there were rumors of love between him and “Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again”, actress Lily James. The liaison was never confirmed, Evans is officially single.
