These clothes should not be dried in the dryer.

We don’t like to admit it, but it’s happened to us too: Contrary to the advice on the wash label, we threw our favorite sweater into the glass and it came out as a kid’s version. If you don’t like walking around in a cropped sweater in winter, you should be careful when drying your laundry.
The tumble dryer not only shrinks our clothes, but it can also seriously damage delicate materials. If you want to avoid this, it’s better to let certain parts air dry.

bikinis and bras

Although bikinis have to withstand the heat of the beach, they don’t like the heat in the dryer at all. The combination of high temperatures and rotational motion can damage the material, shape and ductility.
The glass can also damage underwear. Delicate fabrics with lace, bows or flowers, and beautiful embellishments can tear or fall off. If bras are exposed to very high temperatures, they lose their appearance as they lose their shape and elasticity. You should be especially careful with models with underwire, as the heat can cause the edge to pop out unattractively.

cashmere, silk, wool

Delicate fabrics that should never be tumble dried include cashmere, silk and wool. Cashmere and wool lose their cuteness there, shrink and lose their harmony. Even silk garments run the risk of deformation or shrinkage.

Jeans

Also, you should never put your favorite jeans in the glass. Models with elastane are particularly badly affected, as denim threatens to shrink greatly. The dryer can only help if the trousers are too wide and you want to spin them on purpose. Otherwise: be patient and wait for the jeans to dry.

Towel

As much as we love tossing our towels in the dryer, we really shouldn’t be doing this! This makes them instantly super soft and dry, but they also lose size and shape.

Printed and zippered clothing

Plastic printed T-shirts or other clothing can be dangerous to other clothing. Because it can start to melt in the glass and break apart, contaminating other clothes and the machine.

And zippers can damage other things too. The covers themselves are not damaged by the machine drying process, but when they get too hot they can cause unsightly holes and tears in delicate fabrics.
