Over 18 years after “Matrix Reloaded” and “Matrix Revolutions”, Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss returned as Neo and Trinity – and with “Matrix Resurrections” they celebrated a comeback that was as original as it was quirky, alienating many aficionados . We think: “Matrix 4” is not only a very brave and creative film, but also a much better ending than part 3 was!
That’s why we’re excited to announce this week: On November 3, 2022, the complete “Matrix” saga will finally be released in one box:
» “Matrix 1-4” at Amazon: DVD* / Blu-ray* / 4K Blu-ray*
the , as it is no longer called a complete 3-pack, is definitively obsolete. And yes, the so-called with all four films was released a few months ago, but at the time as an exclusive (and long-sold out) steel book box – costing over $100 and therefore really only for die-hard “Matrix” fans. The set with all four ‘Matrix’ films is now available from 20 euros.
Of course, for those who want to get their hands on the trilogy box, “Matrix Resurrections” is also available separately – as a standard edition on DVD, Blu-ray and 4K Blu-ray, and in several Steelbook versions.

“MATRIX 4: Resurrections”: Much-maligned Sci-Fi Gem
Lana Wachowski returned to the director’s chair after “The Matrix 1-3” to hold up a mirror to both her audience and the Hollywood machine, while undermining virtually any expectation of a fourth “Matrix” movie. The result: mixed reviews, an audience not quite sure how to classify the film and one of the biggest flops in recent cinema history.
Ironically, that failure also shows how much “Matrix 4” hits the nail on the head. A (potential) blockbuster that for once doesn’t bow to established conventions, dares something new and implements it in an incredibly thoughtful way, ultimately doesn’t draw as many people to the cinemas as the umpteenth rehash of old-fashioned superhero clichés. With a pure production cost of $190 million, the film ultimately only managed to raise $157.3 million. A financial disaster.
Too bad, we think. In the official FILMSTARTS review, there are strong 4 out of 5 possible stars for “Matrix Resurrections”. Our author Sidney Schering’s conclusion: The “Matrix” series returns to the beginning and completely reinvents itself: with an amazing amount of humor and emotion, Lana Wachowski leads the series to a new, more satisfying ending.
In “Matrix 4”, Thomas Anderson (Keanu Reeves) leads a steady life as a successful computer game developer in therapy. Because he struggles with the trauma from his past and has more and more trouble distinguishing fiction from reality. When he meets Tiffany (Carrie-Anne Moss) one day in a cafe, who somehow seems familiar to him, he decides to follow this path. Because Thomas is sure: something is not right here…
