The dystopian series The Last Of Us, based on the popular Naughty Dog game franchise, is expected to launch in early 2023. Now we probably know more: “The Last Of Us” is scheduled to air January 15, 2023 on HBO. That’s a Sunday and would be a good fit, because new episodes of major series such as “Game Of Thrones”, “House Of The Dragon” and Co. always appear on HBO on Sundays.
In Germany, the series will be shown on Sky and WOW (formerly Sky Ticket), the new episodes should always be available in Germany from Sunday to Monday from 3 am. This means that the German start date for “The Last Of Us” would then be Monday, January 16, 2023. But: this information has not yet been officially confirmed…
So far it’s a leak – but from an extremely reliable source if not a bug. Fans in the US will want to see the date on the HBO website and in the HBO Max app, screenshots and photos of it abound . There, the series premiere will be announced for January 15, 2023.
In “The Last Of Us,” a Cordyceps fungus nearly wiped out humanity. If you don’t die immediately, the mushroom will turn you into a zombie-like mutant. A few years later, America has sunk into chaos, the quarantine zones being brutally controlled by the military.
Then smuggler Joel (“The Mandalorian” protagonist Pedro Pascal) is tasked with sneaking teen Ellie (Bella Ramsey, “Game Of Thrones”), who is surrounded by a secret, out of a quarantine zone. An adventurous journey across the country begins, with the unlikely duo quickly developing a father-daughter relationship of sorts.

In addition to Pascal and Ramsey, there are also Gabriel Luna (as Joel’s brother Tommy), Anna Torv (as the smuggler Tess), Merle Dandridge (as Marlene, the leader of the Fireflys), Nick Offerman (as the loner Bill), Nico Parker ( as Joel’s daughter Sarah) and Storm Reid (as Riley, known as Ellie’s best friend from The Last Of Us expansion, Left Behind).
Season 1 of “The last of us” consists of ten episodes. If the premiere date is January 15 and there are no breaks due to holidays, the season finale of “The Last Of Us” should take place on March 19, 2023 in the US and then on March 20 in Germany.
