Production company Temple Hill Entertainment had a huge success with “Smile – Do you see it too?”. The horror film, which cost just $17 million, has quickly grossed nearly $200 million worldwide. Now the company is investing some of that revenue in a new horror film.
“Clown In A Cornfield”: From The Director Of A Cult Slasher
They are adapting Adam Cesare’s successful youth novel Clown In A Cornfield. The book, which was published in Germany as “Clown im Maisfeld”, became a worldwide success, so that a first sequel has already been published and a third book is already in the works.

The focus is on a brutal series of murders in the small town of Kettle Springs, where clashes between the elderly and the young have long been rife. Clown Frendo, who was actually the advertising character of a once successful company, has come to life and has chosen a side. He believes that naughty children are responsible for the decline of his city and hunts them down. 17-year-old Quinn, who recently moved to Kettle Springs with her father, is quickly targeted.
The book has been hailed as very scary, brutal and gory – which is what the film adaptation should be. Responsible for this is Eli Craig, who created a horror gem a few years ago with “Tucker & Dale vs. Evil”, which became a cult film for many. Eli Craig, who also directed the Netflix film Little Evil, will direct Clown In A Cornfield.
Distribution partners can be found at the American Film Market, taking place next week. When “Clown in a cornfield‘ might appear is not yet certain. Before the shooting can start, the cast has to be found anyway.
