In the early 1980s, the “Cannibal Holocaust” shocked the world: Ruggero Deodato’s shock absorber, also known in Germany as “Nackt und zerfleischt”, was banned and/or severely curtailed in many countries. But in the horror niche, the film managed to build such a huge reputation (or perhaps because of it) that many distributors wanted to exploit its success for themselves: in the years that followed, numerous other cannibal horror films simply and boldly became “Cannibal”. Holocaust 2″ – also in this country, although the original was confiscated. One of the many freeriders is the 1985 mix of adventure film and cannibal horror”Amazonia – Headhunting in the Rainforest“, which, in addition to “Cannibal Holocaust 2”, also has the alternative title “White Slave”.
After a censored theatrical release, the film was released in both an abridged and full version – although the full movie version was on the index for 25 years. The film has since been reinstated, but has so far only been released on DVD and Blu-ray in a strictly limited form. That now changes: Today “Amazonia – Head Hunt in the Rain Forest” aka “Cannibal Holocaust 2” returns to home theater – uncut, in regular quantities and for a small thaler:
