For over five years, news has been circulating around the industry that a sequel to the cult action film ‘Face/Off’ is in development. Things really got moving in 2021 when it was announced that ‘Godzilla vs. Kong’ creator Adam Wingard would direct the sequel. So far, this hasn’t happened – and it may still be a while before we see “Face/Off 2.”
However, Adam Wingard has at least confirmed that “Face/Off 2” is not off the table yet! The filmmaker is currently on a major promotional tour for his new film “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire.” The next entry in the MonsterVerse will hit theaters here on April 4, 2024. Wingard came out asked if “Face/Off 2” still exists with him in the director’s chair – and the filmmaker confirmed that the project is still alive – and a great script already exists!
Wingard was also in conversation with the Hollywood reporter asked about “Face/Off 2” and explained: “I really love the script. It’s one of those things you read and think, ‘Oh man! This is the perfect sequel to ‘Face/Off’ that I could never have imagined.”
“Face/Off 2” may be a long time coming
It is of course not yet known who will play the leading role in “Face/Off 2”. So whether Nicolas Cage and John Travolta will return remains to be seen.
