Ecomoda reopens its doors 20 years later

“It was challenge (recording of the program) according to the format. This is a series with shorter chapters (…) It was a challenge, but very rich, I was very comfortable and I’m very happy,” Orozco tells EFE, smiling as he talks about Betty, the woman who took her to television screens from all over the world.

The series, whose story takes place in the present day, tells how Betty tries to rebuild her relationship with Mila, her teenage daughter, and tries to face a new crisis Ecomodaas he already did in the original plot.

“This is Betty who asks herself questions, questions herself: where do I stand? What do I want? What do I feel? and what is happening to me? (…) She will no longer make the same concessions. It already is,” says the protagonist, who does not predict many more details about what will happen in “Ugly Betty”.

New ‘set’, same group

As in the original version, a good part of the story takes place in Ecomoda, i.e iconic company of which Betty and Armando are the directors and around which part of the plot develops.

However landscape series is not the same; now has a more modern inventory and with renovated facilities in which the offices of the protagonists and other memorable characters such as Hugo Lombardiplayed by Julián Arango.’

One of the main challenges set by the creators of the new series was to maintain the essence of the work created by Fernando Gaitán, the writer of the soap opera who died on January 29, 2019.

His work has been broadcast in over a hundred countries and dubbed into 25 languages, with 28 adaptations made in India, Germany, Israel, Croatia, the Netherlands and Vietnam, among other nations.

The offices have gone from paler tones and serious ones from the original soap opera to the more lively ones, such as purple and greenand they also have floral decorations and images related to fashion.

What has not changed is the crowd, because it is in it that the story will develop and the characters will have conversations that will lead to he smiles more than one viewer, because, as Orozco reveals, they do their best public the best possible product.

“We do our best, I have confidence and certainty that we do something with care, responsibility, respect and a lot of love, enjoying it and I believe that it always has a positive result”, he points out.

In that line, Duarte, who gives life to words Nicolas MoraBetty’s best friend tells EFE that one of the challenges they have is to bring back to life the characters they didn’t play 20 years ago.

“I imagine that’s what Al Pacino was told to do Godfather III“And I say this without false vanity (…) he had to go through what we had to go through, which is living the characters, which is a challenge”, he says and adds that the idea is that with all this viewers “have fun”.

The Shadow of Fernando Gaitán

One of the main challenges faced by the creators of the new series was to maintain the essence of the work he created Fernando Gaitánsoap opera scriptwriter who died on January 29, 2019.

“There is a responsibility to take care of that legacy, that universe he left us already created. I think we were very delicate and respectful with it, trying to give it tribute, that’s it for me. That’s how I feel and that’s the essence of his story, his characters, I feel that (Gaitán) is following us,” says Orozco.

Duarte agrees with her and adds that the creator of ‘Yo soy Betty, la fea’ “was and will continue to be a crack, drug boss. audiovisual worlddramaturgy.”

“The scenes Fernanda, in a way, we are doing them again, because what he left us is very important”, he concludes.
