Netflix and Millie Bobby Brown have been working successfully together for years. ‘Stranger Things’ started, followed by the successful crime series ‘Enola Holmes’, which will soon enter its third round – and now it says “Lady“a possible further franchise for the popular actress is in the starting blocks.
In the fantasy actioner ‘Damsel’, Brown plays the young Elodie, who is married to the Prince of Aurea for the good of her empire and who must save her homeland from destruction. But shortly after the wedding, the young woman realizes that the royal family is up to no good: Elodie is thrown in front of a dragon (voice in the original: Shohreh Aghdashloo). How the Princess Fights for Her Life has been available on Netflix since March 8. And despite mixed reviews The film seems to be a hit and has been defending number 1 in the streaming top ten since its launch. So could there be a sequel?
The ending of “Damsel” explained
A look at the ending of “Damsel” shows not only that, but also how it could continue. Here’s one for that Spoiler alert! Because not only Elodie survives, which is not surprising: the dragon also lives because Elodie spared him. Both were victims of a royal conspiracy in which the ruling family of Aurea attempted to cover up the fact that the three children of the female dragon had been killed without provocation. In the end, the dragon flies over the ocean next to Elodie’s ship, where she boarded with her sister Floria (Brooke Carter) and her stepmother (Angela Bassett) – and off to new adventures?
An ending couldn’t be clearer, suggesting new adventures could follow for the duo in “Damsel 2.” Director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo – who is in the podcast – also shares this interpretation Of course I wanted to remain spoiler-free:
Juan Carlos Fresnadillo wants to direct “Damsel 2.”
Juan Carlos Fresnadillo would also love to direct ‘Damsel 2’ again – but whether that happens is up to Netflix viewers: “I would really like to make a sequel to Damsel. But clearly we have to wait and see what audiences think and how they react to the film.” The “28 Weeks Later” director later reiterated that if it happens, he definitely wants to make the sequel.
These aren’t the worst omens — and like I said, the critics aren’t entirely happy with ‘Damsel,’ giving the Netflix adventure just 57 percent of positive reviews. But the audience score tells a different story with 72 percent positive reviews. And ultimately it will of course depend on the viewing figures, which we will get information about for the first time on Wednesday in the global Netflix weekly charts.
