American singer Taylor Swift closed the new leg of her world tour “The Eras Tour” this Saturday with the last of the six concerts she offered last week in Singapore, the only stop in Southeast Asia.
The singer started her performance at 19:00 local time in A full national stadiumas well as at the previous five concerts, which were followed by thousands of spectators from other neighboring countries, since it is the singer’s only stop in the area after the tour that started in Australia, Japan, Brazil, Mexico and the United States of America in March 2023.
Choice of Singapore as the only destination in Southeast Asia was accompanied by some controversy after Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin said that concert organizers told him that Singaporean authorities offered up to about $3 million per concert to have exclusivity in Southeast Asia.
Singapore’s prime minister, Lee Hsien Loong, this week defended that a controversial deal administered by the city-state to secure regional exclusivity for a Taylor Swift performance at a premium was not “hostile” towards its neighbours.
The singer, who has been awarded 12 Grammy Awards during her career, achieved a world record by raising more than 1,000 million with “The Eras Tour”, ahead of other artists and groups such as Elton John, Coldplay and Ed Sheeran.
The interpreter’s next destinations “Fearless” and “Cruel Summer” It will be in Portugal, England, Poland, Austria and the United States before closing the tour in December in Canada.
