In the latest episode of Andor, in the style of a famous meme starring Leonardo DiCaprio from Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon A Time… In Hollywood, some fans may repeatedly point to their TV and say, “I know him!” We’ll see eventually. In the new episode, not only do all the still important, living characters from the previous “Andor” story come into play, at least briefly, but also a lot of other familiar faces.

When Cassian Andor (Diego Luna) arrives at the prison, he soon meets one of Andy Serkis played prisoner, who also acts as the group’s overseer. And, of course, Serkis isn’t just known as Gollum from “Lord of the Rings” or as Caesar from the “Planet of the Apes” series. Using motion capture technology, he also played the role of Supreme Leader Snoke in Star Wars 7: The Force Awakens and Star Wars 8: The Last Jedi. Don’t expect his new character in Andor to have any connection to Snoke, though. Apparently they just brought the actor Serkis back. After all, Mark Hamill has also embodied or voiced other characters through motion capture that have nothing to do with Luke Skywalker.
In prison, some will probably see the German actor too Clemens Schick acknowledge as a fellow prisoner of Andor. Schick has had a few minor roles in Hollywood productions (including “James Bond 007: Casino Royale”), but is known for many German films and series (for example, “4 Könige”, TV series “Der Barcelona-Krimi”).
Meanwhile, the return of Forest Whitaker as Saw Gerrera. The leader of his own rebel group will likely have a role in the future to narrate his journey into the events of Rogue One. On the other hand, a nice different appearance of a “Star Wars” character already known from “Rogue One” is much more hidden.
Perhaps the most important appearance: There is a reunion with Ruescott Melshi
One of Andor’s fellow inmates in prison introduces himself as Melshi and is attacked by… Duncan Pow played. He already embodied a certain Ruescott Melshi in “Rogue One“. It is clearly one and the same character. Interesting and very nice side note. In “Andor” Melshi now tells the title character how hopeless an escape from this prison is: whoever thinks he can escape here is dreaming. However, we know that not only Andor will flee, but also Melshi. After all, in “Rogue One” they are part of the rebellion together.
So we can expect more from Melshi in the coming episodes. Expect them to come up with an escape plan together – and become the good friends we see them as in Rogue One. In case you don’t remember, there Melshi leads the team that rescues Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones) from an Imperial labor camp after previously devising the plan to do so (also an interesting parallel to his own fate now in “Andor “) . He then joins the daring mission to steal the Death Star’s plans against orders from the leadership.
Like the others, he pays for this with his life. Melshi gains the important victory for the uprising and also dies in the battle on Scarif.
