Of course, it is always easy to judge from the comfortable couch. But if you sit in the council chair at ‘Who wants to be a millionaire? – then you probably also hesitate when it comes to questions you ask at home that would be answered in no time.
Of course, it’s a different matter if you have proven expertise in a specific area. For example, as a candidate in ‘Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?’ struggles with a film question, this usually means a difficult time for film fans in front of the television – because if they were sitting opposite Günther Jauch themselves, they would now be guaranteed a few thousand euros richer!
Such “What if?” scenarios probably crossed the minds of all cinephiles who watched the latest episode “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” viewed so far on March 4, 2024. There the candidate mainly had to bring out her first joker for a current Oscar question…
“Anatomy of a case”? Or “Analysis of a stumbling block”?
Sonja Schmarbeck from Salzweg in Lower Bavaria was the first to reach the coveted seat. She initially decided to forego the additional joker from the audience, for which in return she would have to give up the safety net of 16,000 euros (according to Günther Jauch the “Schisser variant”), before she easily walked up to the 4,000 euro question – so easy that the moderator commented that it was already “a bit boring” for her. After a chat, Jauch sincerely hoped that the candidate would hesitate a little for a change – and his wish was promptly granted.
With this question of 8,000 euros, Schmarbeck’s lucky streak came to a (temporary) end:

“Now you really got me, I hate film questions,” says Schmarbeck – to which Jauch admits that he doesn’t really understand cinema either. The high school teacher finally decided to poll the entire audience, which gave her the correct answer with 100 percent: Sandra Hueller can of course currently look forward to an Oscar for her leading role in “Anatomy of a case” heap.
By elimination you probably could have chosen the right title, and Schmarbeck claims that ‘Anatomy of a Case’ would have been her inclination too – but then again it’s also understandable that she preferred to play it safe. Despite the minor setback, she continued to climb the question ladder until she was finally able to take home 64,000 euros.

However, we will only know on the night of March 11 whether Sandra Hülser will soon be able to claim an Academy Award. – The Oscars will be presented for the 96th time in Los Angeles. “Anatomy of a Case” is still nominated for screenplay, editing, direction by Justine Triet and as Best Film, with the Palme d’Or-winning court drama in the top category against “Barbie”, “Oppenheimer” and “Killers Of ‘ Among other things, The Flower Moon’ begins.
