Technology training program for young women

About 38 girls participated in the personal phase of the third edition of the technology camp for young women “CAMPTECH”.

The participants have developed technical and technological abilities, teamwork and leadership; They participated in a workshop on personal finances and recreational activities and learned about the Entrepreneurs Channel program at the City of Knowledge Innovation Center.

Young women came from the provinces Bocas del Toro, Coclé, Colón, Chiriquí, Herrera, PanamaPanamá Oeste, Veraguas and the Gnäbe-Buglé region.

“During the virtual phase CAMPTECH, Participants get to know each other, choose a name and logo that identifies the group as a ‘tribe’ and define the technological projects they want to implement,” says Dr. Kathia Pittí, Deputy Director of the Directorate for Innovation in Scientific Learning. and Senacyt Technology.

In it technical module for young women They are learning about electronics and programming, under the guidance of mentor Andre Montez, using this year an Arduino UNO R4 WiFi board. Previously there was a virtual unpacking, but now participants received electronic kits with their materials in four locations: Panamá, Panamá Oeste, Chiriquí and Coclé, to build their first circuits and program their first LEDs with the support of mentor Aniza Samaniego. Then, with mentor Sara Peña, they worked on their server so that the data (internet of things) they manage can be seen on the website.

• Magic Bank: A smart piggy bank that detects coins and adds the amount.
• Egg technology: Smart incubator for chicks.
• Green Flow: a renewable automated irrigation system.
• Smart Traffic Light: Designed for the elderly or visually impaired. Detect the person, play the sound to cross the street. You don’t have a limited time.
• Eco-cleaning: Smart trash can to monitor container capacity and better waste management.
• Ocean Rescue Robot: Hair net catch oil in the sea.
• Gaji Safe Guide: The Smart Cane for the Visually Impaired. Detects a signal when a person is 30 cm or less away, to avoid falls and collisions.
• Low Battery: Detects when batteries are full so that they are not discarded if they are still usable.
