The sexiest wet shirt in movie history is now up for auction

In a wave of all kinds of emotions that want to be released, the extremely wealthy, sensitive 28-year-old bachelor Fitzwilliam Darcy (Colin Firth) tears off his clothes and jumps into the pond of a spacious British estate near London. However, he retains one modesty, namely his long underpants (unattractive) and a casual, thin white shirt. When it comes out of the water again, it is, as expected, transparent.

And of course Darcy’s mischievous sexiness does not go undiscovered, that would be a narrative waste: before him stands twenty-year-old Elizabeth Bennet, one of five daughters in urgent need of marriage, shocked to her libidinous core.

As fate would have it, she marries Mr. Darcy, widely considered the most romantic character in British literary history. At least since the 1995 BBC miniseries, which simply invented jumping into the water. Jane Austen did not have this in her novel ‘Pride and Prejudice’ because it would have been too frivolous for 1813.

It was precisely the wet shirt scene that made Colin Firth the sex symbol of all reading women (at least!). And because he was, he also played the second most important Mr. Darcy from literary and film history, namely Bridget Jones.

And now? You can buy this shirt that made Firth wet! It is currently being auctioned at London auction house Kerry Taylor Auctions, they are modest and only expect £7,000 to £10,000 for it, we suspect much more.

Also going under the hammer is a pink Dior ball gown worn by Madonna in ‘Evita’, expected to fetch £40,000 to £60,000, as well as Johnny Depp’s costume from ‘Sleepy Hollow’ (up to £30,000). Barrymore’s fairytale dress from “Ever After: A Cinderella Story”, unfortunately with badly torn wings; an estimated price is not known. But the shirt! Haha!
