Netflix gives the ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ series a lot of competition: there will be a new hospital series from the ‘Lost’ maker

Netflix is one of the largest streaming services in the world, offering everything your heart desires – almost everything! Until now, the provider lacked its own hospital series in the style of “Grey’s Anatomy” (where our news photo also comes from), “Atlanta Medical” and “Emergency Room”. Of course, you can stream many such formats on Netflix if the license is available, but so far there has been no original. This is going to change:

Netflix is working on its first self-produced hospital series. The title: “Pulse”. The setting: Miami’s busiest trauma clinic. Not only are stressful emergencies handled there, but there is also wild talk within the workforce. The mix of medical dramas and private romances is almost standard in these types of series, and has worked well for twenty seasons on what is currently its biggest competitor. “Grey’s Anatomy”.

“Pulse”: First cast announced

One of the main roles has already been cast – and this woman brings a lot of relevant experience with her. How reported, Justina Machado plays chief of surgery Natalie Cruz in “Pulse.” Machado previously starred in ‘Emergency Room’ and the ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ spin-off ‘Private Practice’. She has also filmed the comedy series ‘One Day At A Time’ for Netflix.

Described as brilliant and politically astute, Natalie Cruz’s daily life involves juggling the administrative duties of her role as chief of surgery and emergency medicine as well as medical matters. But the focus of “Pulse” is on another doctor whose casting has not yet been announced: Dani Simms, a young emergency physician, who is unexpectedly promoted to senior assistant doctor while struggling with the consequences of a provocative love affair.

Series start in 2024?

Zoe Robyn (“The Equalizer”) is the series creator behind “Pulse.” She shares the showrunner duties with series veteran Carlton Cuse, who was also responsible for hit series such as ‘Lost’ and ‘Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan’ and worked as showrunner of ‘Locke & Key’ for Netflix.

‘Pulse’ has already been ordered by Netflix, which means the series is actually happening – and already has a director on board for the first two episodes: Kate Dennis (‘The Handmaid’s Tale’, ‘New Amsterdam’) will direct and produce’ ). Production is expected to begin in March 2024. A series start could take place at the end of this year, but at the latest early next year.
