Josh Brolin (“The Goonies”) now has a pretty impressive resume. Not only did he portray one of recent cinema’s most legendary villains in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Thanos, he also played pivotal roles in ‘Sicario,’ ‘Deadpool 2,’ the ‘Dune’ blockbusters and the Oscar-winning neo – western “No country for old men”. But Brolin is not at all proud of one film: “Jonah Hex“.
Based on the DC comic book series of the same name, the 2010 fantasy western not only flopped at the box office (grossing $11 million on a budget of nearly $50 million). The film was also universally panned by critics. Josh Brolin has never made a secret of the fact that he completely understands why the comedic actioner received so much criticism. In a new interview with the Brolin explained:
“I will never stop stomping on Jonah Hex. This movie is fucking bad.”
Josh Brolin no longer blames the director
As Brolin reveals in the conversation, he and Jonah Hex director Jimmy Hayward recently spoke. The filmmaker is also said to have apologized for his part in the failure of ‘Jonah Hex’. Brolin has the opposite Last year he explained that Hayward’s inexperience was one of the reasons why the film ultimately turned out so poorly. But from now on, Brolin no longer wants to blame others, but wants to deal with criticism much more carefully.
This also comes as Hayward Brolin revealed that he has bone cancer and has undergone some serious procedures. Brolin says: “It reminded me again that you can’t just bully other people. I had no idea what was going on in his life. I mean, he had a complete facial reconstruction, the complete program!”
In the In an interview last year, Brolin addressed the fact that he only had two weeks to find a director for ‘Jonah Hex’, illustrating: ‘I think we made a big mistake with the director. But I don’t want to blame him alone because it was my decision.” After the recent conversation with Hayward, Brolin will continue to be more careful about who he blames for the failure of films.
