The Mexican group Maná revealed this Monday that she is a Spanish singer and songwriterl Alejandro Sanz It will be part of their soon to be released duet album ‘Noches de Cantina’.
At the press conference held on the eve of his return this Tuesday to the stage of the International Festival Viña del Maron the coast of Chile, the band’s leader, Fher Olvera, explained that the Madrid artist will perform the band’s legendary song ‘Vivir sin aire’.
“Of course there is an album that will be released this year, called ‘Noches de Cantina’, which are duets, which the band released very slowly, little by little, with Latino friends, who also like Maná’s songs. and we are doing versions that are more like Mexican and it’s nice to hear other colleagues singing Maná songs,” he explained.
“The last one who recorded, we can say so, is Alejandro Sanz, with us also ‘Vivir sin Aire’. And you have already heard a lot from Christian Nodal”, he added.
The group also announced that they will donate part of the proceeds from their concerts in Chile to the victims of the deadly fires that claimed the lives of 133 people and destroyed thousands of homes and hectares of forest in Valparaíso at the beginning of the month. region, and especially in Viña del Mar itself.
“We have always had so much sympathy for Chile, for many years, and we feel it when we receive news about fires, it made us very sad. We feel disturbed. We reacted immediately so that we could donate part of the earnings,” explained their vocalist Fher.
The singer used the opportunity to present the most dedicated part of the band, condemn the climate crisis and encourage everyone to defend the planet.
“It’s like the country is in a fever, you start getting a fever when your body temperature rises and they start having all kinds of reactions. On the one hand, I’m optimistic that we’re going to get out of this. And why are we going to get out of this? get out? Because when the water gets up to our noses, then we start hitting each other. This desire to get out is fundamentally changing the way we move the world, to stop burning oil,” he stated.
“The second thing is that we are coming with a new generation that understands this and does not want to inherit it from us, that we were not able to change it. The truth is that we were unable, in that sense, we are all losers because we did nothing for our future generations to take over the planet,” he said.
Musically, the Mexicans announced a very powerful concert, with all the decibels of rock, a show of more than two hours of rough and melodic guitar, especially in their performance in Santiago de Chile, since the Viña del Mar festival limits the time of the concert to 70 minutes.
“It is important that we are here, it is our fifth time, we love this festival. We said that one day we have to be here, imagine, it is already the fifth time and we are very grateful to Chile,” he said. added.
They also apologized for not being able to perform last year, as planned, and insisted that it was because of Fher’s knee problems, and not because of political issues – such as his request for a piece of sea for Bolivia – as some media reported.
The band also referred to the second project they are planning, a new studio album that has been expected for more than nine years, and which, as they say, they are already working on.
“The good thing is that the new studio album is coming… we are not in a hurry with it because we still have a very big tour, but there is a desire to compose again, to enter the studio, there are many, many topics, too many things happened in the world that we can describe in words,” said Alex González, drummer of the group Maná.
In this sense, they expressed their happiness for what was achieved to be a transgenerational band, which unites parents and children around their music, even live, and criticized that violence entered the lyrics of some musicians since “if Latin America itself has a lot of problems with violence, I believe we shouldn’t inflame what has already been ignited, right?”
“I believe there are a lot of things to talk about, but keep talking about more violence and more violence. I believe we have to change it and turn it around and talk about more positive things, try to minimize violence, minimize crime, minimize poverty, put more music and sports programs,” he concluded.
