New on Netflix this week: 4 days in a row horror and the remake of a war movie masterpiece

Like every Sunday, we present you a selection of the most promising reboots for the coming week on Netflix. Horror fans in particular can look forward to a very, very large offer – thanks in part to a special project by director Guillermo del Toro, which brings you eight horror stories in four days in a row.

What do we think? in the week of 24 to 30 October 2022 is particularly interesting and may be a matter for your watchlist, you can find it here, broken down by day of the week:

Monday: high voltage for young and old

That the week is dominated by tension will be made clear on Monday with two different titles. In the Spanish thriller The pinstripe a woman finds a traumatized child. In an attempt to trace its origins, she stumbles upon a dark past.

While the film is more adult-oriented, the new series “Mr. Midnight: Beware of the Monsters” than something for a younger audience. After all, the film adaptation of the young adult novel is about a group of teenagers who together understand supernatural matters, while of course they have exciting adventures.

Tuesday: Guillermo del Toro’s new horror project begins

Guillermo del Toro .’s Cabinet of Curiosities consists of eight independent episodes, in which eight different, high-profile filmmakers* tell terrifying stories. These will be published on Netflix in four days, each in a double pack. Launching on Tuesday is a work by Del Toro’s longtime Oscar-winning cinematographer Guillermo Navarro and a story by Cube mastermind Vincenzo Natali. The following days also follow some very gory horror stories from the likes of “Mandy” creators Panos Cosmatos, Jennifer Kent (“The Babadook”) and Ana Lily Amirpour (“A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night”).

Wednesday: Eddie Redmayne teaches us fear in a different way

It doesn’t always have to be a horror movie that teaches us to fear, it can also be the horror of a true story. In The good nurse “Fantastic Beasts” star Eddie Redmayne plays a nurse who comes under suspicion: Does he secretly kill the patients in his care? In the true crime thriller, Jessica Chastain embodies the colleague who should know about him…

Thursday: Anime Day again

We don’t just want to recommend horror stuff to you (even though Netflix mainly publishes these, it’s Halloween after all). The streaming service traditionally has new anime content on Thursday. This week it’s the series romantic killer about a convinced single woman who has absolutely nothing to do with romance – until a magical creature turns her life into a cheap romantic comedy.

Friday: Shortly after the cinema release, the German Oscar candidate is now available in the stream

The biggest of a lot, a lot starts on Friday for sure nothing new in the west: The remake of the war film masterpiece of the same name, directed by Edward Berger and starring Albrecht Schuch and Daniel Brühl, has been in theaters for a few weeks now and is now celebrating its streaming start. The German Oscar entry for the upcoming awards ceremony in 2023 impressively demonstrates the horror of war, as we note in our review.

Meanwhile, the new fantasy story is a good start to the series The bastard son and the devil himself about the son of a witch who finds himself in the middle of a conflict between two opposing groups. Big mouthMeanwhile, fans can look forward to the sixth season of their favorite series. And if you want entertainment for the whole family, maybe stop by Wendell & Wild at his expense, a star-studded animated film starring comedian duo Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele in its original version, about two demons who team up with a punk rock fan to escape the underworld and have fun in our living world.

Saturday: Horror binge instead of reboots?

Netflix hasn’t announced a promising reboot for Saturday, but all eight episodes of Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet Of Curiosities are available now. So if you didn’t want to enjoy the horror stories in bits and pieces when they were published, but want to give yourself all at once as a die-hard binge fan, you can use today for this.

Sunday: Locked up by your own mother

How could it be otherwise this week, Netflix will give us a horror thriller at the end on Sunday. run was released for home theater in Germany in early 2021 and is now coming to the streaming service. From “Searching” director Aneesh Chaganty, the psychological thriller follows a young wheelchair-bound woman (Kiera Allen) suffering from numerous illnesses who is controlled and completely isolated from the outside world by her mother (Sarah Paulson).
