“Headless Rider‘ is a modern interpretation of ‘The Legend Of Sleepy Hollow’, a famous 1820 gothic horror story by author Washington Irving. The film follows a young man named Brandon (Nic Carrucio) who is attacked by drug lord Angel Cregar (Ethan Daniel Corbett) and his henchman Fleck (Sean Whalen).
Badly injured, Brandon is nearly decapitated and is about to die. Suddenly, the devil (Michael Paré) stands next to him and makes him an outrageous offer. In order to protect his girlfriend Sophia (Amanda Jones) from Cregar, the desperate man agrees to the deal.
From then on, he travels through the night like an almost invincible fighter on a motorcycle. In doing so, he kills rows of villains whose souls are then seized by the devil. The only downside is that Brandon has to drink the blood of his victims to stay alive. Will Sophia understand what he is doing?
In North America, “Headless Horseman” debuted in select theaters a few days ago and was also streamed at the same time. When and how we can see The Asylum (“Sharknado”) movie in this country is still open.
“Headless Horseman” seems shamelessly stolen
The idea, screenplay and staging of “Headless Horseman” came from Jose Prendes, the director and/or author of low-budget hits like “Blood Brothers – Your Bloody Masterpiece”, “Mega Shark Vs. Mechatronic Shark” and “Hansel”. vs. Gretel”. “. Those in the know will soon notice that the trailer and especially the advertising poster are more reminiscent of “Ghost Rider” and “Ghost Rider 2” with Nicolas Cage than of “Sleepy Hollow” with Johnny Depp.
Because it’s always Halloween – and maybe to avoid a lawsuit from Ghost Rider rights holders Marvel? – the motorcyclist seen here simply carries a flaming pumpkin on his shoulders. With a glowing skull it would have been too obvious that this is more of a brutal Ghost Rider scam.
Although there is not a horse to be seen near and far in this “Horseman”, the title hero was quickly turned into a vampire. And he got a Freddy Krueger/Wolverine memorial hand on top. So maybe it’s an original movie idea after all? We’ll see…or not…
