6 Halloween Horror Comedies Without Scary Stripes

A creepy story that scares you for days, plus moments of shock and often a lot of blood – that’s what horror movies are made of. Some love them, some hate them. Cowards, in particular, often do not find much in it and prefer other types of films that do not have nightmares after watching.
If you still want a panic-free, scary-factor flick on October 31st, you have plenty of options. Among them are many classics, but also animated films or more modern works.

1. “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” (1975)

A true classic is the American “Rocky Horror Picture Show” by Jim Sharman (77). The movie was entirely based on the successful musical “The Rocky Horror Show”. Thematically, the show is about a young, engaged couple who take shelter in a human-looking alien’s castle from the Transgender planet due to a car breakdown and spend a crazy night there. The cult movie has an age rating of twelve, so it’s also suitable for anyone who doesn’t like too spooky stories despite the title.

2. “The Corpse Bride” (2005)

Tim Burton (64) and Mike Johnson’s American animated film is based on a Russian legend that the groom-to-be was accidentally engaged to a corpse while rehearsing. The movie fits Halloween perfectly, so the heroine has become a popular costume on the eve of All Saints’ Day. The strip makes the hearts of all Tim Burton fans beat faster, plus it contains some funny scenes and is already approved for kids over six – so it really isn’t too scary.
Warner Bros Pictures

3. “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” (1992)

A classic fit for Halloween is director Fran Rubel Kuzui’s American horror comedy “Buffy the Vampire Slayer.” The movie is being released for ages 16+. A cheerleader named Buffy becomes a vampire and demon hunter to protect her fellow humans from harm. By the way, this story is the basis of the successful series “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” (1997-2003).

4. “Ghost Mansion” (2003)

Rob Minkoff’s (60) US horror comedy “The Haunted Mansion” is an approved movie for ages twelve and up. In the comedy, a real estate couple spend a weekend with their two children at a mansion to visit. It seems that the building is haunted and the family is embarking on a spooky adventure.
Walt Disney Pictures

5. “Hocus Pocus – The Three Magical Witches” (1993)

Kenny Ortega’s (72) movie “Hocus Pocus – Three Magical Witches” is also appropriate as it primarily takes place on Halloween. The bizarre fantasy comedy from the United States is about three Sanderson sisters, all of whom are witches and want to be immortal. They are ready to sacrifice even human life for this. If you like to sing in movies, you will get your money’s worth here. The age limit is twelve years.
Walt Disney Pictures

6. “Ghostbusters” (2016)

Directed by director Paul Feig (60), the US remake of “Ghostbusters” offers moments that are both scary and hilarious. In the horror comedy, a brave crew of four women confront the ghosts of New York who enter our world through an open portal. In their struggle with the paranormal, the four Ghostbusters often have an (inappropriate) word on their lips. This comedy is recommended for audiences aged twelve and over.
