An original script for Hollywood star Harrison Ford’s first “Star Wars” film has been auctioned in Britain for 10,795 pounds.
As auction house Excalibur Auctions in Hertfordshire, north of London, announced on Saturday, the collectible was purchased by an Austrian collector.
Ford used the script when filming “Star Wars,” the first installment of writer-director George Lucas’ science-fiction saga, at Elstree Studios north of London.
Strictly speaking, it is the fourth version of the script from March 15, 1976. The incomplete and unbound script contains revisions and introduces the space pilot Han Solo on page 56 – with this role the American actor Ford became a world star at the time.
Ford had left the script in a London apartment he had rented for filming, along with a shooting schedule and a letter from an agent or friend. The landlord found the pieces after he moved and kept them for decades. The recording plan has now been auctioned for £4,826, the letter for £177.80. According to auctioneer Jonathan Torode, the script set a new record for a “Star Wars” script. (sda/afp)
