Will the prince temporarily perform royal duties?

The Duke of Sussex is set to temporarily return to royal duties within the British monarchy to help his father, King Charles III, while he undergoes cancer treatment.

This Saturday, the newspaper ‘The Times’ points to this, which assures that it is prince henry and the monarch have maintained a “warm exchange” of messages since the king’s illness became public.

Accordingly, the duke, the fifth in line of succession k the British throne and a councilor of state, told his friends that he would be willing to assume the royal duties temporarily to support the sovereign while he was indisposed.

Prince Henry, who is still an adviser State and his wife Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex officially stepped down as a full member of the British monarchy in 2020 to move to the United States.

As revealed by a royal source quoted newspaper, Carlos III, 75 years old, Now he is pushing for a reconciliation with his best son, with whom he has been in a distant relationship in recent years, and believes that this will benefit the monarchy.

“On all practical levels, it makes perfect sense for the family to come together to support the king while he is ill,” a source told The Times.

He adds that “much has been said on both sides in recent years, but it has never detracted from the underlying blood bond, and now there are pragmatic aspects to consider, for the benefit of the King and Katherine as something primordial”.

Although the same source points out, according to this, that “although the details of the meeting in Clarence House – where Enrique visited his father after flying to London from the United States after learning of the king’s cancer diagnosis – and the following conversations are private, there is a sense that this deal could work.

The newspaper also points out that for Prince Henry to return to perform any official duties, a written plan would have to be drawn up between the monarch and his associates, and such a hypothetical return would not receive any public funding.

Reportedly, in an interview the Duke gave to an American television program, he suggested that his father’s illness could lead to a reconciliation.

The monarch’s youngest son flew to the United Kingdom spent 6 days without his wife, Meghan, nor her two children, Archie, 4, and Lilibet, 2, will visit their father, whom she met for less than an hour at the Clarence House residence before the king left for his country residence in Sandringham (Eastern England).

During that short trip, there was no indication that the Duke of Sussex met his older brother William, Prince of Wales and heir to the throne, with whom he barely maintains a relationship today.
